Could someone explain to me how cutting bones works? Do the bones appear at your feet? I'm running the KR client and I don't believe I've ever seen any before. Could it be a KR issue, or am I not paying close enough attention? A screenshot of what exactly to look for would be nice...

They are the same bones graphic that are a result of dying, and getting your corpse. When you highlight them it says "Unholy bones" or something of that sort.
The bones have a durability or hitpoints of some sort to them because when you use a bladed item on them it will say something along the lines of "You damage the bone pile".
They usually spawn in a 1 tile radius around the player attacking the darkfather.
Probably a bit tough to see though in KR. Getting a screenshot would also be a bit tough for KR possibly haha.

Just remember to be kind to any provokers who show up...
If you cut the bones, there is no spawn to provoke onto the DF, and trust me there will be times your glad there is a mob distracting the DF hehheh

Catskills. I don't mind provokers at all, its the earthy spammers that are annoying... The corpses cover the bones and the adds just keep building up and up.. I dropped tactics/spirit speak to add healing/anatomy back onto my character (sampire) and without whirlwind I can't really do much with 30 adds because of earth elementals.
Also, I think Nystul plays Atl now, but apparently still has characters over on Catskills soloin the gauntlet

I hate to hijack or derail a post but how the heck do you solo doom?I think I know but not sure.I been playing uo for4 years but due to my crappy computer I can only craft and do light to moderate pvm ,but now I got a better system(not the best but still good) and since Iplay ona low populated shard I was wondering which char I should take to doom and keep him alive if nobody is there.
A tamer can solo the rooms.
A Bard (provoker) can solo the DF. The idea is to make the DF spawn additional monsters and use them against the DF.
Hence a good template is the bard tamer using a cu sidhe.
Bards are ok
but sampire's pwn doom very well solo
chiv dexxer's do well also solo
just need the right tool for the job

I ran doom last year spent all my playing time in doom. There were days that I was running the gauntlet solo with my tamer. When it came the the DF I would have to wait for a Bard to show up or a few other people. A straight tamer can't IMO solo a DF. The spawn gets to unruly and you can't stay under pet to vet. I tried solo with a Chiv archer I moved his bar but ran out of arrows lol.
Be nice to Bards they make DF's so much easier to handle.

There is no doubt in my mind that the wraith form sammy/chiv macer Nystul was running down there is the ideal template for soloing the gauntlet... I first met up with him in room 3 or 4, don't remember. Once we got to the Dark Fathers, I went greyscale and had some time to sit there and watch his HP bar barely flicker at all while he tanked away at the DF and I medded up to get back into the fight.
Some of the rooms are manageable solo, even fighting several of the mobs. I used to do it on my chiv dexxer. That said, fighting 2 DF's at once on anything aside from your template is cruising for a bruising I would say.
Are the monsters leading up to the Dark Father anywhere near the power of a peerless?

Provokers are straight up annoying in doom, anytime I see one I log out and play later. Wammy all the way. Most rooms take my wammy a minute to two max. A normal darkfather battle of 4-6 minutes headup. What other class does that?
I can "solo" two darkfathers at once as long as their both discorded No other help needed though but I guess that's still cheating :*(

No other help needed though but I guess that's still cheating :*(Easier than a greater Dragon but with a LOT more Hit Points. I guess. Tough to say really. The Darf Father is just a little easier than a peerless.

Nystul what weapon are you using?
Kinney42 hit it pretty much on the head. All of the lesser bosses are easier than the peerless. It takes only a few minutes (if that) to defeat most any one of them.

why spend time in doom, join factions and get arties fast and easy and upgraded versions.
