Testing Templates

I was on TC1 today, testing different templates to see if I could come up with a better pvp character. I made a samuria bokuto mage and found that 90 tactics is required to do nerve strike. Not only does it require 50 bushido which most people have at GM or 120 because nerve strike hardly does anything at 50 but it requires 90 tactics. The tactics does not benefit the nerve strike either. It still would do the same amount of damage before the 90 tactics requirement and after. I believe the tactics requirement should be removed considering nerve strike is just like the poisoning special move. Although characters do not need GM or 80 poisoning to use the ability they still use it to to be effective. The 90 tactics requirement prevents mage bokuto templates in my opinion because it takes up an unnecessary skill slot and does not fully benefit the template. Whereas that 90 skill points could be used for something much more useful.

No one finds that there is a problem with this? I haven't seen one nerve strike mage since this was applied. Which basically means it nerfed a once popular template.

Well it's pretty much a "double standard" thing. When they added in tactics skill as special requirement they SPECIFICALLY made an announcement on how Infectious Strike already requiring a second skill "poisoning" to use it thus making it not requiring it to require tactics skill to use. However they never explained anything on why nerve strike still requiring Weapon Skill + Tactics + Bushido skill.

They focused on balancing PvP and the unbreakable nerve was very very overpowered back then. IMO at the skill requirements, nerve strike should at least receive max bonus dmg (up to 25 scaled based on bushido skill)everytime w/the 2sec breakable para we have now.

Well I dont know what to tell you. Maybe nerve strike is just that great. As for mages not using nerve it's mainly due to the fact that any spellcasting cancels special toggle, yes the change affected dexers too but mages casts at least 10 times more spells that also requiring much much more percise timing, now with the special untoggle, you have to literally STOP casting (that means no offensive and no healing for the mage) just to do a special attempt. Thats why you see there are rarely any tactics mages let along nerve strike mages that requires much steeper skill requirement.

The more viable mage templates nowdays are Necromages or Tamer Dread all kill mage and other viable mage templates are pretty much next to none.

Well, to be honest, I like the toggle special move without being able to cast. It limits ganking and it requires more skill as you said. That is great. But the 90 tactics requirement has NO ADVANTAGE at all to the template other than the fact that you need it to do nerve strike, which is ridiculous. So if they could just remove that requirement I think it would allow mages to actually use a bokuto now without having severe difficulties such as no med or no resisting spells.
