Whats up with the Boats????

A friend tried to recall off of his keys to his boat today and nothing would happen. No message at all, just wouldnt recall to any of the four. So, then I brought on my fisherman and tried to get too any of my boats and received the same results.

Anyone know what is going on with the boats and recalling to them? Its like they have disappeared.

Have you refreshed them lately, they could have decayed and poofed.

Are you certain the boats are still there?

I just tested this with a character on LS. Placed her boat then recalled onto to it. Then I tried again from different subservers and different facets. Everything worked exactly as I would expect it to.

If you're sure the boats are still there and haven't disappeared, decayed, or been somehow commandeered by someone else, it might be helpful to know a bit more. Which shard? When were the boats placed in the water? When were they last refreshed? Where were you when you tried to recall compared to where the boats are, i.e., same subserver/facet or different?

I tested also on ls works fine you have wrong keys or boats are gone most likely

I just went and placed a new boat into the water and the key to it doesnt work either...says key is out of reach.

(possibly our new EM working on a event?) Seems strange it is only this shard.

Maybe its the honor bug thing. Like with houses.

I refreshed all boats just last night as do I every Sunday.

Must be some sort of glitch because you cant even board a newly placed boat.

You don't get any message when trying to recall off dead boat keys. You still lose mana though. Odd it is, but that's how it has been.

Edit: Do you have all boat keys? Could someone else have taken the keys?

Do you know where you boats are? You could get another boat and sail to it and check to see if it's still there.

Yes that is what I was wanting to do but,It wont let me get onto a newly placed boat either. The keys wont work for them either.

Guess Im just stuck guessing what happened to the boats! LOL

LOL...I dont either here on Origin, Rico. YOu would be sad here also.

But, I agree, it used to be fun to find a dead body and lift the keys to thier boat...whoala! and you have a new ship!

What was more fun was finding keys to the doors inside someones keep!

I've only stolen 5 ships since being on Siege...even when I moved here ships weren't in high use. The problem is...there is no way to magically get to the ship without the aid of a GM.

Sounds like something specific to Origin. Have you tried asking in the shard forum for others on the shard to test it? Since you also can't board a newly-placed boat, it does seem like some sort of bug. Might be a good idea to send in a bug report on it.

I tried it too on Origin and get the messages below, both with the key that went in my backpack after placing a ship and with the key that went to my bankbox:

When clicking on the side of the ship: "This key is unreachable."

When clicking on the key that is in my backpack: "This is a key blank. Which key would you like to make a copy of?"

When clicking on the tillerman of a newly placed ship: "You must have a key to the ship to dock the boat."

When trying to recall off the key: "This key doesn't appear to unlock anything."

Both keys are still labeled, "A Ship Key."

This may be unique to Origin. Tested it a bit on Lake Austin and everything seemed okay. I've submitted a bug report. Guess it won't help with saving the boats though.

Well, Tina, if you've got a bit of time and a whole lot of patience you could try paging a GM. I'd make a point of including all the information you posted here about the game's text regarding the key. Who knows, gunneroforigin paged, if you and Crystal of CCC also page at least one of you might get a GM to show up with either a fix or an answer. If enough wheels squeak loudly enough, surely at least one of them is bound to get a little grease!

My guess is they're tweaking something and Origin got some code no one else has yet. If you're living out of a boat on another shard, you might want to consider clearing it out just in case the problem spreads.

Just for grins, I did try having my poor low-skilled carpenter make wooden boxes and the keys to those still seem to work fine (assuming I don't lock the box with the key inside of it). LOL I also had her tinker a plain iron key and make a copy of a copper key for one of the wooden boxes. The key copying process and the copy of the original key also worked fine.

i had a boat parked out in the ocean on LA.

i was off at work for a couple days and when i got back i remembered it there and went to get it.

recalled off the key.
nothing.

assumed that the boat had gone poof.

so i went and got another boat and boated out there (its my fav fishing spot) and was i suprised to find my other boat just sitting there.

i was able to fetch the key out of the bank box and use it to get to the boat, but the key that was originally put into my backpack didnt work on it.

Well, a few minetes ago they took the shard down and it is back up now, but not yet able to use boat keys. I did try the keys in the bank, but to no avail.

Im glad that at least some people received help with the boat situation. I would just like to know how GMs decide who to help and who not to.

The shard actually went down for a bit and I thought maybe it was to repair what was wrong. I came back on when it came back up, but my keys still didnt work and I still can't access even the new boat I put in.

In the mean time, I page a Gm for assistance and so did my friend. A Gm shows up for my friends page and takes him and replaces all his boats.

Im still setting in a Queue thats says Im no.8 ever since I made this post. 3 hours later and nothing. 3 hours of just sitting here.

Should I just give up?

I wouldn't give up just yet. About a week ago I was taming Cus, finally got an Ice White to spawn, and of course, he's ON the bloody mountains. Can't move, can't be tamed. So I page. Three hours, a shard maintenance and another hour later, I recieve a message from a GM and my pretty new Cu is wandering around beside me.

Just a matter of how bad you want something and how much patience you have =D
