DEV's can we have a confirmed yes or no on this please.

I just saw a post about someone getting a ban for sitting there AFK to burn off murder counts. Now I'm only aware that you can get a ban for AFK macroing. not just sitting there.. even if burning off counts.

I seem to remember a DEV said that if you want to remove counts, just click follow to an NPC over night. Not sure which DEV it was, I think it might have been Draconi. Now if you AFK your computer with your character following a NPC about the place I'm sure thats not AFK Macroing and as a DEV said its ok to do it...

So why are people being banned for it?

Could we have a definitive yes or no on this please and if its a no you cant do it, can the DEV who said it was ok please apologise becuase I've done it and I'm sure many others have mostly becuase we thought it was ok as it was stated as such.

Its only illiegal if you are doing something to keep you from natuarlly timing out.

I always thought the distinction was how your character was staying logged in.

If you're running a macro or action that is keeping your character in-game and overriding the auto logout for idle time, then I would think that could be deemed illegal, or the same as unattended macroing.

Now if you're at Luna Bank, or another busy area, and other players' activities are keeping your character refreshed and logged in....this was what I always thought was allowed.

I guess I don't know the 'official' answer. Would be nice to know though, should I ever need to burn a ton of counts!

You can be unattended only if your not performing an action. So say being AFK at the bank or as a ghost at yew is completely within the rules of the game. Been like that for years and will be like that. And trust me if It were to change we would Know real fast with threads that discuss it every day. The non PvP'er has no clue do to their lack of PvP history and knowlage.

That seems pretty clear. Just standing somewhere logged in isn't a problem, unless you are performing an action, chatting, or using a skill while unattended.

I've never been able to put more than 500 arrows in either of them so I guess it got bugged by someone at some point and i got the wrath of it.

first offence, they are supposed to just delete it. if you get caught with one again they can take action. i had a friend get a ban for having them on his vendor.

I suggest you just think about what murder counts were made for. What their purpose is.

Their purpose is, to make sure murdering players has a consequence.

Now, if you avoid the consequence by some "doubtful" activities, ask yourself if you act according to the game rules, or if you don't.

I don't know if just unattendedly sitting off murder counts is bannable. But it sure as hell is borderline rule bending. If you do things like that, you should take into account that actions will be taken against you. No reason to complain, is there?

the only MC's I get were for killing scripters. I havent left my chara following another but have let them sit at WBB all day while I go about my household duties.

The question that I want answered was that a DEV once said it was ok to follow a NPC over night. and I'm sure it was right here in Uhall that he said it on the old forums. I want the DEVs to clarify it as if someone gets a ban for doing that then they can rightfully complain to all hell when a senior member of staff says its ok to do it.

I agree with murder counts, and always give them. I however dont want them hanging around when I kill some afk scripting asshat as I'm sure most people on here dont.

I only count blues. Those already red want murder count number, so I don't give them the gratification of another murder added =)

Unattended macroing is what gets you canned. Not just sitting there...Even people not burning counts just sit there doing nothing.

I see people sit AFK all the time at the bank, who aren't PvPers... I think this should be a general statement, not just about burning counts. Those burning counts are doing the same as Trammy bank sitters doing nothing.

There is nothing in the rules against standing there AFK that I am aware of...but if a GM comes by and speaks to you, and you do not respond...and he comes back later and you do not respond, don't be shocked to find yourself in a cell.

Its not that they are sitting in one spot either. Its the fact that after server refresh they are in the same spot next few days. That little auto log thing.

SCripting, 3rd party programs, re-logging in.. all of that is rubbish for what I am talking about.

The question that the DEVS have still failed to answer IS, is it a bannable offence to sit there AFK and AS A DEV ONCE SAID you can just follow a NPC overnight to lower your murder counts. Personal opinons, other issues etc I dont care about and in my personal opinon have no place in this thread.

Please keep it all on topic, its quite simple I want a DEV to give a concise answer to my question, no if's, or's or buts...
