What are some of the templates people use for the tram oaks spawn? Just curious what people are pretty effective with while running solo. I was using a bushido archer but was finding i wasn't dropping as much spawn as i'd like to.

This is the easiest of the illsh spawns for me to do provided that I have positive karma... This is on a sampire fyi. Everything from shadow wisps to serpentine dragons barely scratch me. I have a much, much harder time just doin Barracoon then Oaks. I'll post details after work, time to go!

Any sort of dexer with a pixie swatter, honestly. I suggest either having 120 resist or carying petals and trapped box. Before doing the spawn get to Glorious to give you some safety for the first level. Thats it. Ilsh Oaks is easier by far than Fel Oaks due to the vast open area - you dont have to deal with tons of spawn on ledges that can gank you but you cant reach lol

Typically, 2 or 3 people, working at opposite ends of the spawn and taking care only of themselves, can get the spawn up to at least the 3rd stage, with about any template other than pure crafter or pure bard (and if they have magery, could probably do it with earth or air eles).

First tier: Kill ONLY shadow Wisps
Second tier: Kill ONLY Wisps, and leftover shadow wisps
Third Tier: Kill ONLY Centaurs, and the leftover wisps from the previous two tiers.
Fourth Tier: Kill ONLY Serpentine Dragons. This is the only pre-champ tier where you must kill a positive Karma creature to advance the spawn to the champs.

As a result, about any weapon will work better OTHER than the Pixie swatter (no collateral damage from the area attack) for the first 3 tiers, and you can use a dragon slayer on the Serps. And, the Ethereal Warriors are best avoided as not only are they too hard to kill, they will RESURRECT you if something kills you.

Bosses: get Silvani to spawn from attacking Oaks a few times, then run and hide, to get Oaks off you - You MUST kill her before Oaks can be hurt.

It will take a little longer to do it this way, but if you start as Glorious, you can do the spawn about 5-10 times in a row before having to go get your karma back up.

Good steps for victory! Thanks for posting this, Basara. I am new to doing spawns, and this will help me prepare for facing this particular one. All of your posts explaining or defining a particular situation or process are very detailed and easy to understand, even for me. :)

I like to research before attempting something new and often times dangerous, if only so I don't get everyone else there killed, hehe.

Everything Basara said is spot on.. Disregard the pixie swatter weapon unless you have suicidal tendencies and enjoy being ganked by pikies, Ki-Rin's, Unicorns, and Etheral Warriors. Maintaining positive karma is key to this spawn. Heres another useful tidbit of information.. If I start this spot as "Admirable", by the time Silvani falls my karma is low enough (lo, still positive) for the paragon fey's to attack me. Normal pixies still won't pay you any mind. Once again, this isn't a problem in the fel spawn because there will be no paragons.

Mmm.. in regards to the pixie swatter, I have never seen "fey slayer" on any other weapon. However, if you come across a fey slayer with good mods (not including any kind of hit-area) then that would work. But under all circumstances, unless you are suicidal, do not use a pixie swatter.

I've done Ilshenar-Oaks with all of my characters except my necro-mage (for obvious reasons).

Here they are, with a smidgin of advice on each:
Tamer: Bring a rune beetle/something else combo or a pack of something. Everything you see drops quickly, and someone else usually had a dragon to tank Oaks.
Samurai Paladin Swordsman: Honor everything you kill, use a mana leech weapon and lightning strike everything to death. Up to and including centaur, everything should die in 2-3 hits. Serpentine dragons take signifcantly longer, but they're still not much of a challenge.
Archer: Don't even need to take a lot of arrows. Bring a pack horse and loot the centaur's arrows for a huge time saver later on.
Spellweaving mage: An arctic ogre lord saves a ton of time and effort. Avoid energy vortexes until Silvani and Oaks unless you have one finger on your mass dispell macro at all times.

I still want to try it on my necro-mage, but from what I understand, fighting as a necromancer in that spawn is a team sport, especially at the lowest level.

Other samurai tips (archer and melee): a lesser hiryu increases the damage you do, and nothing damages them enough that a well place close wounds won't fix. Honoring everything you kill also saves a ton in bandages and recovery time.

Solo Necro/Mage - not for the faint of heart or slow connection

Your going to have to work mainly on the outside of the spawn, everything except the Serpentine drags is going to zone on you. Best bet is to work from outside up grass pathway to try to clear path to altar for when you want to get up their for Champ later on.

1st Level I find it best to throw forward an EV and then wither spam around it (can really get away without EV but is handy when Paragon Sprite shows). Quite often the sprites(pixies) will either poison/paralyze you when they die, so dont overextend yourself it can be a bad thing to be paralyzed and watch a swarm come in and flay you with a mass of spells landing at once. Personally love the poison as I will run in and try to wither a few then retreat to heal - the poison does little damage and will release you from any paralyze.

The Kirins/Unicorns usually a flamestrike with an EV will drop em, for me 3x flamestrikes if no EV - dont get tempted to go for a lower spell when almost redlined as they will usually get a heal off.

Paragon Wisps/Kirins/Unicorns - best to drag off, invis and just keep dropping EV's on em to kill, if you move or attack they can rezone on you, usually when I get 2x EV's out I meditate as they will kill the EV's and you will need to recast for abit.

Centaurs 2 flamestrikes or 1 EV makes short work of them, Serp drags I usually leave alone they dont bother me and they chew thru an EV with ease, usually other dexers there that like to kill them but if you want to attack stay to attack spells. Paragon centaurs still a pushover but Paragon Serp Drags best to drag off and invis and leave them somewhere out of your way.

The winged creatures are the biggest bane to your necro, they move fast, unload spells with glee, chew thru EV's like your kid eats sugared cereal, just bad news all around. Still working out a good strategy for em, at present I just pre-cast flamestrike, run in drop spell, run off, repeat.

Its kind of a judgement call as to when to run in for Champs, I try to judge how quick we went thru lower levels knowing it will go quick at last level once Serp Drags appear. Pre-cast invis and run to altar, if people havent cleared spawn from around altar you will need to drop EV by creature and then re-invis (if winged creature probably best to lure off). Dont stay to close to Oaks as he spawns pixies and they seem to do area attack that will reveal you. Silvana flamestrike once they have lured Oaks away, then do same to Oaks. If there is too much spawn by altar, cast invis and run back to edge better to hope for event item in pack than risk death and not being able to get to body if too busy
