Question about a ban

First let me say this.. this isn't about me whining about being suspended for 24 hours..

What this is about is why my account that did nothing got suspended and the account I was using the bug on was simply moved to the Buc's Den AFK hut.

Here's what happened...

Account 1: Sitting at my GH burning counts.
Account 2: Using a bug involving a house and a golem.

I come home to see Account 2 in Buc's AFK hut, I thought okay I got what was coming to me and I was puzzled though since I was not even suspended and could just watch into one of the moongates. What puzzled me more was why when I saw on my other account my character was in jail with connection lost (kicked from the game). The email I got from my suspended account said I violated the ToS by using a bug.

The thing is, the account that was suspended was just sitting inside our guildhouse and the account that used the bug is currently training his archery again (not on a golem I learned my lesson.)

Basically.. why was Account 1 suspended. Did they simply suspend off of my IP address (doesn't really explain it)? I don't really know.. what do you think happened?

And once again this isn't a thread about me whining I'll simply put up with it for a day I'm very thankful to not have been perma-banned.

I'm no expert on bans, but i would assume you pay for both accounts with the same CC? ....

Yes I do, and that's what I thought originally but I figured both would have been suspended if that was the case.

i dont think using a golem to train is a banable thing.. but keeping logged in burning off counts is..

so the right account got the susspention

Maybe I'm missing something, but you were cheating on one account (using a bug you knew was a bug) and you were unattended on the other account (also against TOS).

I'd say you were lucky only one account was suspended.

Burning off counts is a bannable offense? Or do you mean unattended burning off counts is a bannable offense?

Logging in to burn off murder counts is considered unattended macroing - if you are unattended. Whether you have a slowly looping macro to keep you timed in, or you have the "Show all names of approaching players" option selected to keep you timed in, it is still considered unattended macroing.

If you are attended, then there is no problem.

But it isn't a bug, which is what his offense was.

Besides, I have logged in to burn off counts.. no macroing at all. I just walk a step or two every 15 mins. Standing still isn't against the rules.

In order to stay logged in at a house you have to either be close to trafic or looing a skill or somtihng. Therefore he was unatended macroing.

Why do you think you see ghosts at Yew Gate or people just standing there around luna.

As for again golem training at a house also requires either a bug or loop.

yes you are lucky only one got a ban.

His GH could have been quite busy or he could have been watching tv and hitting AllNames every 15 mins. Once again you skip the point, he was cited for using a bug. Golem training is not a bug, and neither is being afk.

hmm ok so everyone that goes afk in luna is subject to get banned... EA, can i volunteer to be a GM free of charge and go around to the banks on every shard, make sure if people are there and if they don't respond within 10 seconds can i suspend them?

I'm afk right now, reading the boards. Is this a bug I can get banned for?

Wow I guess I didn't explain it good enough...

Account 1 burning counts was at the GUILD HOUSE. If your journal is updated then you won't time out.. nothing was making my character do anything. He was standing there.. so quit jumping to conclusions. Hence.. people camp out in Yew (high traffic thus journal messages) same thing as Luna, that's why you can see people stand in Luna 24/7 not doing anything.

As far as training on a Golem like I said I was using a bug, you can't trap a monster inside a house for any type of skill gain. So yes, I think that account does deserve a suspension.

This thread isn't a jump on my ass for doing something wrong so just stop it, nothing is gained from it. I've already said that I know I was doing something wrong, just want to find out why they suspended the wrong account lol

No one official will comment on the specifics of your particular banning on these boards.

If you want details, send an email to the GM Comments address or Feedback link on the uo.com website and see if you can get clarification from someone privately.

All you will get here is opinions from people who think you were violating TOS and opinions that GMs were out of line based on your comments from what you didn't see while you were AFK... Not much help.

- They probably just popped the wrong one on accident. What's it really matter though, you are the same person and 1 of your accounts was rightly suspended (even if they accidentally hit the wrong one, heh). Hopefully the one they popped is more meaningful to you atm because, no offense, but they are doing a good job and improving the game when they bust people cheating with more than a slap on the wrist and a mark on a meaningless account.

What I wonder about more is if someone you know reported both of your accounts or if the GM's were actually proactive and looked at the other account from the same user &/or location in order to potentially action both of them during the time you were abusing, I mean cheating, UO, heh. The latter would impress me much more.

Yeah I think that is what they did by looking at both of them.

They were logged in but not dual clienting (same IP, different computers) but oh well.. what's done is done and I'll play tomorrow.

So after this.. let's let this thread die peacefully
