Ninjitsu gains, without fighting?

My thief is 93.1 right now. I use it mainly for animal form, mirrior image and shadowjump. I was getting gains like once a day doing shadowjump. But haven't gotten any in a long time, i got my last one in KR. Is there anyway to gain other then having to fight things? My char isn't a fighter, just a thief. I want to be able to use the higher animal forms and maybe not fizzle so much while using it.

What template are you using? On my ninja/stealth/mage I use a -mage weapon and hit a horse in trammel, unguilded.

Not sure how else you'd do it w/out using Focus Attack on an animal...

Other than casting a higher animal form repeatedly.

To gain ninja at high levels get an LMC, Mana Regen suit. Get a fast weapon that puts you at max swing speed, go to trammel, buy a cat, and hit it in guard zone death striking over, and over, and over, and over.

I'm 120 stealth, 100 hiding.

working on gm pick,snoop, and 120 steal. I'll have 80 magery.

If you don't have a weapon skill, or a way to use a soulstone and put it on that chr temporarily, you'll need to get a -mage weapon, Staff of Magi, Pyros, actual weapon etc, and then do what Lynk has said.

That's the fastest way to raise ninjitsu. Or use jewels.

You dont need a weapon skill or a mage weapon to work death strike. Just use a rat, or a cat, or some animal with an extremely low weapon skill. Tell it to stay and just whack on it. At the rate you'll use mana up you won't even need to hit every swing (which you probly will anyways).

It's the only way to work it, and trust me it is NOT fast.

when I did it I used a boo stick as a weapon for it's,MR3 and a MR suit. You need to be unguilded...and you can do it in any Tram house....Personally I found a bunny worked best.

Oh, true... I guess you don't really need weapon skill for something with such a low weapon skill.

If you wanted, put on some HCI jewels too. I imagine that'd help you hit more often.

And ya, ninjitsu doesn't go up fast.... hours and hours...

what do i neeed to do at what lvl? it seems real slow so i must be doing something wrong
im 120 fencing and im useing a dagger think ive got 1.1 in the last 2 hours

Focus Attack I believe will take you to 120... it just takes a long time. SoT + alacrity scrolls will be your friend if you're impatient =P

Aside from using the appropriate spell for what level you are, ditch any excess points beyond 300. You will gain at a much faster rate. Could even do what Lynk said as well. That would allow you to get rid of those 120 points till you finished your ninjitsu skill.

Key to building a template is looking at the most difficult skill you have on your template and then working that skill first.

when I trained Ninjutsu, I stoned everything off except 100 med and 100 focus and ninjutsu. I wore a MR suit and held a boo stick and smacked a blue pet.

I think I even stood in a BR training area because Black rock was running at the time.

Seems to me I powered through with a couple long days...but I can't be sure how long it was...definitely wasn't more than 3 days.

When I did it I maxed out lmc/mr/mana inc, had 70 necro and 50 spirit, 115 med, 115 focus, popped into lich form and summoned a wisp. It got to the point where I could deathstrike nearly every swing. It was still slow as hell to work.

That's what i'm doing now. The best part of it was the guy/girl who invs me and my cat and got guard whacked like 3 times for it!

Yeah, one guy suggested i drop my skills to below 400. But it's still slow as heck, i've got a mage suit and boomstick. Been trying with a cat and a bunnie.

your're my hero ! Stoned everything on the char except med and ninja (even fencing), bought about 30 fencing and whacked away DS on my horse. And what can I say, the gains started skyrocketing. Well in terms of ninjitsu that is of course. Still dead slow but significantly faster than before.
Btw, works pretty well with low weapon skill, since the limiting factor is mana anyway and not hit rate and the DS check only happens after the next successful hit. So the frequent whoooshes don't matter.
