There's always a possibility that those items released in Japan have turned out to have serious bugs in them and Japan 'beta tested' them for us! After all, it's not unknown for UO items to have 'unexpected features'...
No, its not an in game issue as far as them NOT working. In fact, some token have been transferred already to US servers. The things work fine.
I was thinking more of them not working as intended - hence 'escalating' problems (remember the 'fun' of the duped items from the unintended feature of the shape-copying summoned creature? That sort of 'issue' was what I had in mind), rather than not working at all, but as you say the vaguness of the reasons doesn't help explain anything.
I hate sounding so negative, but my guess would be that when EA Japan found out that they were going to be selling these in the US, they went nuts and put a stop to it.
Actually I think it's operated by some external company, so that could be the issue there.
Japan has EA/Mythic by the balls.. Japanese players get these items for free while we have to pay for them, and we can't even buy them on time. I'd rather they said "On sale June 1st" than stringing us along like lemmings towards a cliff.

Some people defend an idea until the bloody end, no matter the costs to person or property.
A moderator can post their ideas and thoughts just like anyone else. The only thing the "moderator" title means is that they can enforce the rules of the forums. If they feel like typing in caps and use exclamation marks, freedom to them.

If every mod was so hostile, would you be so friendly? They need to set an example for the rest of us, not ride the line between acceptable and not. Generally I am a very friendly Mod. I simply responded to some complaints I was tired of hearing over and over again, and misinformation that I keep seeing over and over again. That was posted as a player not as a mod. I did not break any rules, just simply had a moment of anger I felt like expressing. Everyone else is allowed to state their opinions on the matter. I was simply stating mine. Was it hostile, yes. But no more so than some of the constant rambling I hear against the Dev team.
Not to keep dragging it out, but FYI Oriana EVERY post you make with your 'moderator' tag is a post by a moderator. Again, you are supposed to be the example others follow on the board.
