Insurance Bug Striketh

Another thread on it, yay!

Here's the story: I was out in the woods running around then my power goes out (damn you ice storm) when I was near an ogre (Shrek hates my face). I'm on a tamer that has no wep skill nor uses mage wep -x weapons. So luckily my power comes back on and I'm able to run to a wandering healer and get ressed which is of course when I realize I'm missing things (ornament of the magician, rune beetle carapace, you know, stuff that wouldn't make you happy to lose). All my clothing is blessed and it did stay with me.

I run back to my corpse and sure enough all insured items are on there. So next I check to see if auto-renew is on and yes it is like it has been forever. I go to the bank and there's over 500k in gold and 5m in checks. I'm not one to forget these things. Nothing on my suit was new or was someone elses at any point in time. I've crafted/gotten all my armor.

Of course after this incident I uninsured and reinsured everything. Did the same with auto-renew. I was lucky to get back and get everything

So... we ever fixing this? (Already sent the story to uobugs) :spider:

SO your saying the items were still insured and on your corpse correct?

Did you happen to note how many items were in your backpack right before you died and/or your weight?

Yes, insured items still on the corpse and when I looted my body they were magically uninsured. It was half my suit pretty much, other half was fine and stayed insured and was on corpse after res. I always keep over 500k in gold and there's always checks in there too. And auto-renew is always on.

EDIT: I haven't added or dropped anything from my backpack since I went and got my stuff so I was - 129/467 weight and 21/125 items. Bank is also at 57 items if that matters.

I have had this happen to me several times ... auto-renew on, plenty of free gold in the bank, pieces/parts of gear on my corpse upon rez. However, tales like these seem to get poo-poo'd quite loudly by the disbelievers in here.

This is a hard one to track I bet, as one cannot easily go to TC and do certain steps to reproduce it. It doesn't hit in any particular scenario (overland, dungeon) consistently.

I have had two scary versions of this happen to me. The insurance bug strikes me once in a blue moon as well. Now I always go check my corpse just to be sure. I also had a scare in Moonglow during the invasion last year. I was fighting inside the rift, got killed, left and got as rez. suited and booted and went back in to fight. As I was fighting I happened to come across my body and decided to loot it. On my corpse was my blessed Crimmy!!!! It happened twice during the invasion..once with my Crimmy and once with the Quiver of Infinity. I play on Asian Shards sometimes as well where my ping is not so hot. Sometimes when I click on my corpse to loot it the corpse is empty. Logging in and out does nothing. I have to physically drop my death robe onto my body and all of the sudden "poof", all my gear appears. This only happens on the laggier shards and I deal with it now but the first time had some real "Pucker" factor.

I had this happen to me too, I lost 2 ornis, 5 valorite hammers, and 4 crimmys. Any chance I can get them back???

A Tip I'd received very early on and used faithfully for 3 years and have never lost anything (same for my buddies in the know) - and I die ALOT and play alot ... Tip as follows:

Any time you put something on your body or in your pouch that has been in storage or simply NOT ON YOU - make sure it's insured (durrrr the obvious) - if already insured then all good ---

Here's the important part -- Cancel the Auto Renew completely through the toggle options - Then - Enable it fresh -

The deal is when you set the Autorenew it only performs that function for the items that were ON YOU at the time you ENABLED it and are still on you. So anything on you that was NOT on you when ya last set it - won't have the autorenew perform.

I have a ****tonne of many slayers and various weps that I use intermittently .. so I'm always swapping weps in and out of my pouch with the 'tool shed if you will' - as well as things between chars -- so generally I cancel then re-enable just about everytime I head out the door cause i most often swap things out or leave things at home I don't forsee using on a particular adventure to save on insurance -- my motto is always ready to die and abandon corpse if need be -- less stressful -- for me anywho.

Good idea. I had just assumed the the insured tag marked the item for insurance upon death. I will try that from now on.

Ya that is not true. If it was I would have lost hundreds of items by now as I have not "refreshed" my auto-renew in years. When and if insurance bug decides to smile on you, none of your hocus pocus tricks are going to be of any use :/

Just this past monday it hit me. I was inside Labyrinth playing with Miasma and Reptalons. MY bard mage died. I ran outside to the healer, got rezzed and redressed. As I proceeded to cast heal on myself I got the strange message that i didn't have that spell!

My mage book, an insured tome of lost knowledge that I keep in my pack, never made it back to me. No I hadn't picked up anything, my pack had just my basic gear in it. When I did finally get it back, the insurance had dropped on it. No, I didn't toggle it off myself. Yes I had nearly 400k in loose gold in my bank box.

Very unnerving experience. Wonder what else or how bad it's gonna get?

Were you carrying lots of loot?

I think insurance bug happens when you are carrying so much stuff, that when you lose your +STR from armor or pot you can't carry all the stuff, so you'r ghost can't carry all the stuff. So rest of the stuff is left on the corpse.
