Armor Resist...Something Wrong?

I have all 40's resist with nothing on, which idk why lol im new to UO again, been 3 years.

But when i had armor with resist it doesnt add up right. For example. 40 Cold Resist, add a item with 20 Cold Resist and it comes out to be 56 Total Cold....why? None of my resist are adding up correct. Need Help! thanks!

Hmm, well, I don't know then. I have had this happen to me as well when I just had one piece of armor on. When you had armor on, how many pieces was it? I think if you put more armor on it starts working better for some odd reason. Give that a try and see what happens...

At GM that sounds about right. Don't ask me why. Resist spells does that.

The higher your magic resist is you will have better resists naked in everthing but physical.

because the forty you get from gm resist does not add with armor resist so in your example since the piece you added doesn't go over your 40 base resist in order to see the change you would have to add 41

Really makes you wonder what the point of resist is now days other than resisting para and poison.

Bingo! We have a winner. You have to have resist or "boxes" to pvp though. You choose.

Think I will go with boxes since it saves 100 skill points now that I think about it. Maybe I will stone it in case they give resist more purpose

I'd take resist every day of the week. When you get cursed it'll take you down a tonne of stats with 0 resist, even with cure pots if you time your poisons right to interrupt dexxers with 0 resists bandies it can be brutal. Also you can still mana vampire somebody and make them useless.

I choose resist as well. I am old and feeble. One less macro to fumble around with, eh?

Well, manavampire is also pain in the ass if you have no resist. Legendary magery+eval mage casts manavamp on you, you will lose ALL your mana.

Yeah, after a little thought I decided to recant my decision of removing resist
While it may not help too much, it's just a lot nicer to resist those para's instead of relying in a box, lol. That and resisting curse, mana drain, etc.

Also there just isn't anything else I would want to put in place of resist that would benefit me any better.
700-720 skill points really is all you need for a decent character.
