Why wasn't snooping allowed into Trammel?

Just curious. It's not like the act of snooping alone provided any risk to the Trammys...la

No doubt because it would be a pointless feature, or would lead to griefing - you see another player with a pack full of uninsured goodies, so you lure monsters onto them for the kick of seeing them lose it all/hope the monsters pick up something for you.

It's not like you can loot the player. I'm just nosey so i like to see what's in other players packs. When I played on a production shard regularly, I would have liked to see how the bank sitters kept their pack. Nothing devious in my question...sheesh...la

Personal invasion of privacy.. I keep mine between my garments and pants. Who snoops that?!:spider:

You know, it is odd that I was wondering the same thing about snooping the other day. It makes no sense to not allow it in tram. Luring of monsters upon someone is a no no. Snooping someones pack isn't griefing...it is a matter of curiosity. Finding out what people wander about with and such, then if that person happens to wander into fel you have an idea of what they were carrying. I find it amusing when people snoop me, I don't care. I usually ask them if they see anything they like because when I am in fel I make sure that I don't have uninsured items that I care about.

It used to be funny when I would be accused of griefing because I was snooping someone's pack. I know way back when...people on this forum wanted thieves to go grey if they snooped their pack.

I thought it was an interesting idea. If you were noticed snooping you'd go grey to that player...I guess I'd still be open to that idea, however it's been yearws since my characters have had lass than GM snooping, so there is absolutely no chance at me failing a snoop attempt...la

Maybe they should change the snooping skills percentile of accuracy to where it never has a 100% success rate at the highest possible skill level. But more like a 98.9 or something :lick:

I'd have no problem with that...as long as being caught snooping was not something the guards could be called for. I have regularly asked for perma grey to be brought back. I'd have no problem with turning grey for snooping, as long as it was a player that tried to punish me for the act...not the one hit kill guards...la

I'm not much for the one-hit kill guards either. Instead, I think if you are caught/noticed snooping, you get thrown in jail for 24 hours.... whether in Felucca or Trammel.

I'd agree. Guards shouldn't be responsible for dealing with pick-pockets or snoopers. (remove the ability to page guards against thieves and snoopers) and let the player him/her self introduce a little anarchy:D

Rico, did you know you can snoop a guildmate's backpack in Trammel?

Yep, and you can steal from a guildmate in trammel, and you can kill a guildmate in trammel. Oh, and if you get enough friends in the same guild, you can steal a guild from another player in Trammel...la

As long as we can include pking, stealing out of crates, killing monsters, looting, and insuring everything you wear and hold in your pack as offences with said 24 hour penalty...I'm in...la

I managed to do that once just adding my own characters to a mostly dormant guild I've belonged to on GL for a few years.

You've mentioned a couple of times lately that you've been playing on shards other than Siege. Are you finding a lot of guilds that are so desperate for members that they add complete strangers AND promote them above ronin status before finding out if the strangers will make good guild members? Or are you just that good at pulling the wool over their eyes and earning a quick promotion?

:lick:

What? You want risk free snooping now?
Risk free? he suggested turning grey (meaning he can get pk'ed or ganked). You suggested 24/hr jail time. Which alternative is better? His proposal of risk or your proposal of removing the skill and its purpose altogether from the game?

Rico, you were around when Tram went into effect, weren't you? Snooping (at that time) was deemed part/parcel of the PvP experience, thus barred from the Tram ruleset. Did you miss the memo or something? :lick:

Technically I suppose the decision is right considering you *are* opening someone elses pack (NPC or not). Though I see no reason why it should be barred from Tram ruleset so long a Stealing is not allowed. <shrug>

Hmmm... which is better? I say removing the skill and its purpose!

Why wasn't snooping allowed into Trammel?

Because it serves no reasonable purpose in Trammel. Personally, I don't miss being followed around with the spam message of "so and so is peeking inside your belongings".

As for the curiosity comment, tough luck... it's not your stuff and thus none of your business.

Edit: I'm not against ANY reason for Snooping to have a purpose in Tram, if it can be given a purpose, so much the better, but it does NOT serve any purpose to snoop other players' packs.

I think people tend to confuse me with the more "Trammie" type of posters. I'm all for making the game more challenging, but players should have a choice in their level of comfort when it comes to PvP or PvP-esque actions. Eleven years' worth of MMOG history has proven this.

My point is to find what should be legitimate in which facet.

As it is, Snooping serves no legitimate purpose in Trammel, but that doesn't mean that it SHOULDN'T serve a purpose be it adding to the chance of success in a PvM steal, or be useful in upcoming event scenarios.

Personally, I just don't see a need or desire to allow people to pointlessly follow others snooping into their pack for no other reason than to annoy them.

Last I checked you could snoop pack animals (except that rotten beetle) in Trammel, even if they aren't allied/warred to you. It makes people awfully upset for some reason. :twak:

Meh, no point in people able to snoop players who are not part of your own guild or a guild you are warred to if you can steal.
