Ok so I was just goofing around today and i can probably count on 1 hand the times I have ever use incognito so i cast the spell changes me to leland ok no biggie well i log out and go to log back in and my character name on the login screen is leland never noticed that it did this! and when i logged in my macros and everything where gone i wait for spell to end still no macros so log out and in again and back to normal macros and all!
just thought this was weird anyone else ever notice this? and is there a good use for the spell that anyone has found?

And yes it is a looooong known issue and nothing really to worry about.

Why speak when you don't know the things? As far as I know this kind of misinformation contributes to perpetuate the uselessness of disguises for almost any playstyle (except con artists).

The game makes a new folder for the new name with all default macros. If you've used a disguise kit it's possibly a good idea to copy all your regular macros into that new name file.

That's what I did when I used a disguise kit to check out form changing to update the thief faq. The faq just said 'incognito' I needed to verify if it applied to all form changing spells. It does.

Of course it took a couple of minutes to verify that, 1 hour 58 minutes to get my normal name back and about 30 seconds to realise I could have done it on test and saved myself the hassle

You need to be in the Thieves Guild to use a disguise kit, and don't you still need 48 hours play on that character to join?

Not on Siege, any character can join the guild regardless of time played or your stealing skill.

The only thing i see Incogneto being used for is to disguise the script miner that lives next to me.
Every 10mins like clockwork after he finnished his route, he casts incogneto then starts again.

Suppose it's one way to not look like the scripter he is..........

I'm a roleplayer and I've trained up many of my characters with stealing so they could join the thieves guild. I even gathered items to satisfy the stealing requirement so I could join without expending skill points in stealing. Why? So I could pop on a disguise and create RP extras to use in events. This way, if I need shadowlord troops to battle the good guys (Players), I could pop on a disguise and dress them up in appropriate gear and have established characters I could fight the players with. Unfortunately, the Devs removed the ability to join the thieves guild using items to satisfy the stealing requirement so instead I propose this.

How about making incognito be a toggle spell? You cast it and assume a new identity, letting you choose a new hair style much like the disguise kit, allowing for temporary hair dyes much like the disguise kits. When incognito is cast again, you are restored to your original character name and appearance. This would be great for roleplaying. A few magery items and incognito scrolls and this ability could be used by all roleplayers.

It could be use for nefarious purposes, but suppose you leave the paperdoll as is with the real character name so if someone is trying to pull a fast one, you can see who you are truly dealing with.

*chuckels and remembers rpers running off every 2 minutes to renew incognito and always returning with a different name*

Only real use would be for crafting with names, but a new character with soulstones can do that lots better and easier

Some guildpks used incognito, but most lost it still during their pking, so not that useful.
Better make it he Ricky way and use a disguise kit
