Let's bring back Perma-Grey status for PvP stealing

I know it's been gone for a long time, but I don't think it was ever really answered why it left. Why was the perma-grey status removed from thieves after they stole from players? I, for one, miss it. It added that nice aspect of challenge to playing thief in PvP. For me, it made this nice goal to see how many people I could be grey to before I die.

I think it should be brought back. And if would mean thieves could be attacked in trammel (by guard-type NPC's or even players) while in this status, even better.

It could even bring a little life into forensic eval. Make it so people with this skill be able to detect perma-grey thieves.

And yes, I play a PvP thief.

I think it went away with the introduction of item insurance. Like the majority of pvp thiefs.

Cause it wasnt needed because if a thief managed to steal anything they could insure it imediatly anyway.

Don't forget the put in a 2 minute timer, you kill the thief or he dies any other way you get the item back regardless. If he insures it and dies in that time you get the item back with it being insured thus protected from being stolen again.

Stealing in the CS now is fun! I like that we can now steal off the monsters once more, so am happy there, as for the perma gray, naw, no thanks, nada, nix. I don't need that headache in Felucca.

Because the people that work at EA need aren't satisfied with leaving the old school ways alone.

They bastardized this game until they chased most players away. All the changes they made to Felucca have stunk.

Felucca needs to go back to the way it was. NO PRIVATE HOMES! DOOR LOCKS! HOUSE FIGHTING! PERMA GREY! STAT LOSS! TEXAZ LAW IN HOMES (Grey if you enter and are not friended)...etc!

Do it Fel then, not Tram. PvP thieving has nothing to do with, and no business in, Tram.
Actually, stealing should be allowed accross all facets... period.

Trammel can remain a non-pvp zone...but Texas Law, Stealing and Snooping should be allowed everywhere. The penalty is that you can get attacked for those actions or guard wacked in the zones.

These are a big part of the reason Tram was put in to begin with. Your statement makes no sense. Stealing from another player is a PvP action and thus has no business being in Tram.

No force fields around homes.
Perma Grey thieves.
Texas Law.
No instanced dungeons.

So on and so on.

Felucca's had trammy crap bleeding into it for too long.

No. Quit trying to bring PvP thief stuff into Tram.
Jeezes connor, it was just an idea about being attacked by either NPC's or players, and possibly in tram. My main idea was simply bring back perma gray. If you don't like the idea of thieves getting attacked either by NPC's or Players in tram, you can just say, "not in trammel...." No need to derail this into some Tram vrs Fel argument.

If there is a restoration of permagrey (which I think SHOULD happen), one of two added things also need to be considered.

1. Can be whacked anywhere.

-- or --

2. Cannot be whacked in Tram ruleset means permagrey cannot gate or recall to a Tram ruleset.

Would it then become worth it for permagrey if #2 happens?

Have to agree with Conner on this one. There is a reason far more people choose Trammel over Felucca, and it's not an inability to PvP.

Face it, the game is isn't bringing in hordes of players. They are having enough trouble as it is retaining the current playerbase.

The last thing I want to relive is having to go to some obscure banking location at 3:00 AM in hopes I can get my stuff in the bank before I get stolen from.

I do not miss Felucca one little bit. Not because I can't PvP, but because I choose not to. I don't want to be pushed back into that playstyle to try to reclaim an item that was stolen from me. That's why I left Felucca the second Trammel was created. I don't play UO so someone else can benifit from my work for an item.

You want to steal, then you have all of Felucca to do it in. If tragets are becoming less, then perhaps I am not alone in my line of thinking.

I truely understand what you are asking, but think of the bigger picture. You may not have intentions to bank sit all day and all night in Trammel in hopes of the big score. However, there will be many that will and that is not in the spirit of keeping this game afloat.

Once again, I am not attacking your post, but you need to see the whole picture of the probable outcome.

The reason is that EA has destroyed Felucca by taking away EVERYTHING that was old school about this game! Felucca should have been left alone and allowed to remind us old timers of what the game was all about...WHEN IT WAS POPULAR!

This game pales in comparison to ALL OTHER MMRPGS out there, because what made it unique has been wiped out by nerfs for players that want zero risk out of game play.

What seems very strange to me is the thieves are asking for a nerf, and the non-thieves are opposing it...

they also need to bring back the thing where if a thief steals something from a player and is killed right after, that stollen item remains with them if they are killed before two minutes time passes after stealing

I'm sorry, but what does any of this have to do with bringing back perma-grey status? No one is talking about stealing in trammel...the idea isn't even in this thread.
You didn't just read about a thief nerf, see the mention of trammel, and just assume we are asking to steal in trammel did you? Re-read this thread carefully.

On a side note, I do agree with your post, but that is for another thread, not this one.

I reread your post and an apology is in order. At no point did you imply that stealing should come back to Trammel. You are in fact asking for the ability to flag thieves perma grey that steal and allow both facets to exact justice. Once again, sorry for the quick, unjustified reply.

Eh, sucks about the water-pipe. Hope it didn't cause much damage.

But it's all good in regards to the post. We've seen how threads suggesting any kind of PvP stealing in trammel goes (down the drain), I just don't want this thread to head off topic and into that direction.

Sadly, it looks like the water has been seeping for a while now. Have to rip up the entire floor, but all is good.

Hope my coworkers like my unshowered body at work for the next couple of days. Lucky for me I turn wrenches for a living.

Since this game has turned item based, the perma grey idea might be a good thing to bring back. Would allow those that just go to Felucca for the scrolls to get a little payback (and possibly items back) if the flagged thieves step into Trammel.
