Issue with only one character lagging

I've been having problems with just ONE of my characters lagging. She can run 2-5 steps (depending on how bad it is) before she pauses, then continues to run, then pause, wash, rinse, repeat. It is extremely consistent (trot, trot, trot, pause, trot, trot, trot, pause, etc) and extremely annoying. :p

None of my other characters exhibit this issue. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience.. I've tried fiddling with some of the settings, but nothing seems to help. I should also note that it is more pronounced when she's mounted (the mount itself doesn't seem to change thing, I've tried several different types of animals). There are also some occasions where she can run freely, however this tends to only last for 1-5 seconds.

Any advice or direction or whatever, is greatly appreciated!

I don't have that problem, but something similar. I have a problem with my character lagging whenever she enters a moongate or crosses a server line. It's takes her several seconds longer than it should. This does not happen to my hubby's chars or anyone else that I know of.

I've been having problems freezing and have died a few times because of it. I've only been playing on one character lately so not sure if it's just one of them or not.

I should clarify that I have been having this problem far longer than the overall lag issues that people have been having; I've been experiencing this odd lag on this character for nearly a year now. She's just always been a townie so it really didn't matter to me, but now she's getting strong enough that I'd like to start hunting with her.. which really isn't an option with her odd lag.

Also, I can play other characters immediately prior to and after playing her and will have no issue with lag.

I've had this "trot, trot, trot, pause" thing happen only when I'm running in sandy areas... seriously! I was assuming that was by design. And that's when playing on the KR client.

Ack, another thing I should've mentioned. I only play 2d (on that character, anyway).

Did you fill out a bug report?
Not yet. I figured there was some simple setting that I had switched or missed or something. I don't know that it's necessarily a bug.

Several things you could try.
A bank box is with a character, so people claim emptying your bank can make you lag less.

Might be something buggy with that characters desktop savings.
You you could back it up and delete it and see if it helps.

Maybe a character deletion is the last way if nothing helps, but then I would not probably advise such drastic measures.

Or justs end a bug report and maybe it gets solved someday?

So you have one char who lags one step out of about 5? Wow, whats your secret? Thats not a problem, thats a divine blessing, lol. I would kill to only have one character lag, especially only that much. Hehe, ok now that I have been a jerk...

Check your housing cache... Go to Options, then the tab that has the UO symbol, and scroll down to the bottom. Change it to a lower number. I have not had much luck with it, but apparently its how many houses (designs and items) are saved in your memory. If you set it to a lower number this may help. I havnt had much success with it, but some claim that it makes a difference... so its something to try. Gl to ya.

Well, let's start with this:
What makes this character different from all of your other characters?
Such as clothing, amount of macros, what is equipped, what skills, anything that might even seem minor and unimportant.

Check everything under the options menu for that character to see what might be different as well. Maybe the transparency circle is checked, a graphics setting, etc. Check it all.

Then, if you find something different, change it, or even try to replicate it on one of your characters that don't lag.

Or: Go into your desktop folder for this game, backup the contents of the lagging character, copy the contents of a folder of one of the non-lagging characters, and paste it into the lagging characters' folder.
