Stronghold PVP

House PVP = lame

Stronghold PVP = really cool

New Idea.

Area's like a building designed as a stronghold, group of people can "assume" control of the building and do not have to give it up as long as their numbers do not drop below a certain #. Their dead can be ressed but they have a 3-5 minute timer between death and res.

Outsiders can band together to attack the stronghold and the "owners", to take control of it.

The stronghold has benifits to it. Like special forges that add duribility back to items when used or spinning looms, all "owners" get more life, special damage... Add your good suggestions here

I guess...

The idea is based on current house pvp and creating a more functional less lame way to do it. For example you can eventually get into the stronghold to claim your prize.

in the future, to be able to build homes and instead of public/private, they can be siegable, and slowly be torn down.

And you can fire Cannons that actually harm people!
Like you could bring in so much wood and ingots and you would have to have crafters like 2 min to build turrets that could hit the invaders, or cannons, or what ever, and you could use the wood to repair the walls, the more crafters there were the faster they could build things

Mythic is no stranger to this type of gameplay. DAoC is well known for it's RvR system of holding forts. All depends on what the new client can do and how successful it is. I guess that will determine the future and capibilities of the game moving forward.

Your pretty much describing factions, For just regular pvp I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that they'll blow up Buc's Den and move it to a location not surrounded by server lines. Be nice to have a easily attainable location for ppl to go and pvp with limited house hidding, guard zones, and a small area so the players that run like the wind can only run so far. (island)

I'm not describing Factions, it is similar but not the same. I'm talking about a come and go system that would allow people to engage in a type of warfare that is not currently in game. The PVP would be based around the stronghold, not the items you could get from participating. Some of the benifits could last past the stronghold but not un-balancing, like a forge inside that lets the crafters repair damaged armor and add durability to it. Might be handy on a really long siege, like say for days.

Imagine 100 on 20...

"Hold the fort men, don't give them the satisfaction of taking you alive!"

"You there, woodworker, re-inforce the main gate."

"Archers, ready flaming arrorws."

Oh the fun we could have smashing buildings!

This is more Shadowbane style of play...

Honestly, they need to get rid of that stupid invisible force field around private housing... make all houses in felucca at least... siegable.

I think this would be a much bigger development, not something that they could put together quickly or in a cycle patch, mabye several cycle patches.

What I'm really curious about is what thoughts do people have about the system mechanics?

Seige boats?

Leadership bonus's, like the Generals, Captains... from the current invasions.

Archer distance bonuse's for being on the top level of the stronghold.
