what was the reasoning behind your bank closing when you open your paper doll?

Was it to stop a dupe or a bug? Just kinda seem strange. If I look at my self in the window of my RL bank, the bank dose not close.

For as long as I can remember, opening your paperdoll 'refreshes' you in the game world; bankbox closes, you rubber-band if walking, monsters target you, etc. Not sure why but it's not exactly new.

*hic*-ing while drunk also closes your bankbox if you're on foot, but not if you're mounted.

not if your mounted, I did not know that.

There's no animation for being drunk and mounted. I guess people who aren't on foot can conceal their inebriation better. ;)

If I recall the Devs from long ago ... your bank is essentially a hidden thing (pointer to the database stuff?) that your character drags around with themselves - most likely attached to the paperdoll. When you work your paperdoll while the bankbox is open, that pointer (or whatever) gets refreshed ... ie., it will close and need reopening.

This same type of workings allows you to claim a pet in Yew when you stabled it in Brit. Didn't used to be that way, you know.

And Sephy? You are soooo wrong, unless you work for EAMythic as a programmer and can prove it's "bad code". Bad form, Mate.

Hicupping on a horse should blatently make the rider fall off (complete with "falls off horse" animation) ;)

Thanks for the information. It has always bugged me but at least now I have some idea why it's done. I honestly don't remember it doing it when I started out in Uo-R

Ah, remember back in the day. You could open your bank box and recall away and it'd still be open.
