Im sorry, but Im reading conflicting information about the above and would like to those seek the knowledge of UO's esteemed population on the fact about SSI being affected by a toon's Dexterity or Stamina.

Thx!

Swing speed is based on your current stamina, which of course is based on your Dex + stamina bonuses - stamina lost. (then SSI is added in)

On the other hand, bandage timers for healing are solely based on your current dex.

Stamina, based on the UO Stratics weapon calculator, but then I don't know how accurate that is since it is still showing the old method of swing speed (ie kryss is listed with a weapon speed of 53). Here is the link. If you select a weapon, then enter strength, stamina, tactics, and SSI, it will calc swing delay and what your stamina needs to be to get the next bump in speed.

Definitely stamina. Have you ever noticed how much slower you swing when your stamina is reduced?

Formula is based on current stamina as pointed out by others, but since dex determines your stamina, the answer is both.

So the key thing to remember is that you may swing fast at max stamina, but when you take some hits and loose stamina your swing rate will slow.

Stamina determines swing speed, every 30 stamina takes a tick (0.25s) off.

With stamina increase items the maximum you can get is (not including specific weapons with it) 192 I believe. 180 stamina takes off 6 ticks (1.5s).

i think what the original poster means to ask is if having decent dex but more stamina or if having more dex and decent stamina makes you swing faster?

thats what i would like to know as well...

in short, does having 175/175 stamina make you swing faster than having 150/150 stamina?

or is it with dex?

how does this work exactly?

Something that always seems strange is that melee & ranged weapons without SSI vs weapons with MAX ssi, if dex is maxed so that the swing speed cap is reached, no matter what, the weapon with SSI always appears to swing faster, by about .25s and is reproduceable on TC. Even at the capped swing speed on a non-SSI weapon with spells like Divine Fury and or +SSI items equipped, the non-max SSI weapon will not swing as fast as its maxed SSI counterpart.

Anyone else notice this?? I find it rather frustrating to have to have maxed SSI on a weapon to achieve its max swing rate, even though I might be at the dex cap according to the Stratics Calculator on a weapon without or less than the maxed SSI.

Use the FOF link provided by Ash to calculate swing speed as the Stratics calc is wrong. Divine Fury takes off .25 sec from your swing speed. e.g. a swing every 1.25 secs will go down to 1.0 secs with DF.

I seem to recall that the formula used the average of current stamina and dexterity. This was so you would still swing when at 0 stamina. Not sure if this is still true (or was ever true). Long time ago.

=/ It made more sense before you rephrased it.

...
No, because as I said in the post before yours...

"every 30 stamina takes a tick (0.25s) off"

Take a weapon like... a regular bow. Base speed is 4.25, if you have 30 stamina the delay between swings becomes 4.0, if you have 60 stamina it becomes 3.75, if you have 90 stamina it becomes 3.5 & so on & so on at 120, 150, & 180.

However! It can still be worth having more stamina than necessary to take into account being cursed, movement and taking damage.

or is it with dex?
No. Dex only affects bandage speed and works in 20's. As the maximum dex is 150, 140 is the last point at which bandage time is reduced (4 seconds).

Edit:
Having re read the OP, Basara said it all really. The origional question was 'is SSI affected by dex or stamina' & the answer is neither it's independant of both.
