A popular web site states, "Dexterity - Determines Stamina and is important for skills such as Snooping..." and yet I can find no other mention of stats affecting snooping or stealing. Is the site wrong? -LC

So, what's your dex Rico?
I could swear I remember that being true many years ago, but no longer. If I'm right, the site is simply out-of-date. The fact that no one's replied to your thread probably supports that.
There generally used to be a closer relationship between Stats and Skills, though many of the details were murky. Much of UO's math wasn't as well known back then. We just kind of let the math work itself out behind the veil.
Anyway, sorry for the reminiscing....My memory is that this (dexterity and snooping being related) may have been true but is no longer.
Hopefully someone whose memory is more specific will respond.

Dexterity doesn't matter on a thief, it doesn't affect any thief skills.

Dexterity does not affect stealing but for stealthing the formula is/was
FAQ question: Help! I am being revealed when I am walking! Why?
The reason why you are probably being revealed is because of the people that you are stealthing near. Currently your chance of being revealed is determined by
Stealth + Dexterity / 2 VS. Intelligence + Detect Hidden / 2
Havent heard if this formula changed or not and its still in the FAQ
