Its interesting that Mythic was able to reclaim their old name... I think that's great! I also appreciate that EA is trying to change their image and be less Borg'ish and allow more creative freedom in their studios.

But I really wish Mythic would bring UO out of the dark! They need to update www.mythicentertainment.com since they have more than DAoC and WAR going for them now... they have a much better game that they need to be advertising: Ultima Online!

Article here:

" Mythic Entertainment. It’s a name that we haven’t really heard much of since June 20th, 2006 when the company known best for their Realm vs. Realm style MMORPG Dark Age of Camelot and their upcoming MMORPG Warhammer Online announced that it had been acquired by publishing giant Electronic Arts (EA). After the announcement the company went through a name change and a re-branding, including a new logo, that saw the studio re-named “EA Mythic”.

advertisement Today, MMORPG.com learned that EA Mythic will be going through another transition as the company reclaims the Mythic Entertainment name.

“We are going back to Mythic Entertainment,” said Mark Jacobs, the VP and General Manager of EA Mythic. “I’ve always been a believer of separate branding,” he continued, going on to cite a number of successful companies like Disney and GE that operate subsidiary companies under separate and distinct brands.

“I think that this is a wonderful example of how things at EA are changing,” he continued, “both John (Riccitiello, CEO of EA) and Frank (Gibeau, EA) have spoken multiple times about city states, more freedom, that sort of thing and I think this is an obvious example.”

Did I miss something between today and the publish roll out yesterday that makes you think UO is dead?

If they're counting on Warhammer as the cash cow, they better hurry up.
Two delays, time is ticking, Now they have announced some realms and classes wont be ready at launch.

Sound familiar guys? rolleyes:

I know you're insinuating about UO2 and UXO, but that has happened to so many other MMOs at launch.

Look at Age of Conan for instance. They released without DX10 support (which was promised), the bar brawls, lack of work in crafting, and much more.

Yeah...because this time it really MIGHT be dead.

Unlike the 1,345,980.908 times in the past that the sky was falling...

:bdh:

Indeed...this could be the big one!!

Well...or not...

:eyes::eyes:

Well...it COULD!!??

It may not have actually died and gone to MMORPG heaven - but it sure does seem like its in a coma for the past few yrs.

Didnt someone at townhall ask about there website and no UO info oni it?

I'm thinking UO isn't truly a part of Mythic , it's just being housed in there building , if it is once WARis done maybe UO will get lots of love..

It is truly part of Mythic; it's just the red headed stepchild and Mythic's management could obviously not care less about it. I love the dev team and community represenation, but without backing from their management there isn't a lot they can do.

Hopefully it will at least get mentioned on Mythic's site.

Yes, this issue was mentioned at the Town Hall. The response was that they weren't aware of UO's not being mentioned on the Mythic site.

Here's a link:

http://www.mythicentertainment.com/

No UO listed.

There is a lot going right at the moment, but perceptions do matter....And that oversight creates a very, very, important negative perception.

Yea, I asked through the WWR shoutbox why it didn't appear on the website. Cant really say I was surprised with the answer that was given. At least they didn't just say "Its on the radar...".

Well, what was the answer on the shoutbox? Or are you referring to the "we didn't know it wasn't" answer given at the Town Hall?

The " I wasnt aware its not on there, thats handled by the marketing department." answer. If she would have come out and said it was "on the radar" I would have known that it would never happen.

I appreciate your sending the E-Mail and, almost as important, letting us know that you did.

If you look even at the site you linked to, you will notice that the games listed next to the Mythic Banner include 1 game that, allegedly, has less subscribers than UO, and another game that isn't out yet, but not UO.

Thank You Jeremy; I know it could have seemed like this could be a trivial thing but avid fans want someone else new to play with once in awhile and advertising it couldnt hurt.

Ill except having to argue with the kids at Gamestop and EB that UO still exists and is still online. Now at least Ill be able to show them it might have some internal support.
