on the sonoma shard i decided i would try to pop Lord Casca when he came to make his speech and appearance.

i planned ahead and took some blackrock with me.
he came out for his last speech and i pulled the pin, dropped the blackrock and yelled out the phrase.

hehehehe, BOOOOOOOOM, it was grand fun.

it didnt of course put a dent in the fiend, but it was a fun try!

Someone did the same on Catskills.

Conflag pots - nothing.
Armageddon - nothing.
just attacking - couldn't do it.

Seems they covered those bases. It would have been nice to have the royal guard take care of the aggressor though.

Hehe, join the would-be assassin club. *tucks away all the blackrock and glass dagger he tried*

*hands him a robe that says "I tried to Kill A King and all I got was this lousy death robe" *

Aye...add me to the list of disappointed would-be assassins as well.

We will find a way though...he cannot remain invulnerable forever!

Yeah I would've liked to have seen that too.....LS's Casca mentioned a new Captain of the Royal Guard coming; we could've met him and had him one-hit-killing people at Casca's whim.

No. I role-play and my char will NOT bow to this man. And seeing as how he talked to me...seems he didn't mind.

I tried RPing at the even as well, but Casca did not respond to me. Then again, the event on Atlantic was sort of out of hand.

I would like to suggest to the EMs that were running the event, a little more preparation would be good.

A larger space, maybe set up some chairs (locked down of course), comm crystals for those in the back...maybe erect some walls like the ones in LB's throne room currently?

I don't know...I do not mean to tell you how to do your job, but most Kings don't just address their subjects from the top of a pole surrounded by an unruly crowd.

Maybe the theme of the day was chaos? Because that is what prevailed.

Well, if it was REAL 'rp' your cyber butt would be executed for treason. Seriously, it wouldn't have killed your rp world to simply listen and disagree. Heck, some Casca's opened up to questions, which would have been a fine time to state your intent.

Trolling an event? Not cool... even for rp. There were better alternatives, and I say that AS a role-player.

Then let them execute me. Let them try. I openly challenged Casca to stop me. And seeing as how others around me had the same idea as I...well...
Obviously Casca is hated more on my shard than on yours.

But seeing as how we are getting off track...Its nice to see others try and kill him. *winks*

No, he is pretty well reviled on mine as well. I just don't like trolls at events like this. And just because OTHERS do it doesn't simply make it OK as a free for all. It's bad ettiquette all around.

You trolled the event, plain and simple. There were better ways to rp your displeasure without resorting to making it annoying for others who WANTED to listen.

Canary, I agree that people spouting off random things at the event was uncalled for. But if you have ever attended any controversial political speech or rally, then you know that even in real life, the crowd can be unruly. On Atlantic, I didn't mind seeing the people saying 'Hail King Casca!' or 'Death to Casca!'. It was the people that showed up with the intent to basically ruin the event...bringing dragons to the event to park them over top of Casca...etc.

I do not think many of the people that showed up at the event with the hope that they would actually get a response out of Casca were "trolling"...I think they were genuinely role playing.

Personally, I showed up at the event with incognito cast (which ate my macros?)...and made my way through the crowd until I was close to him, then I pulled my dagger and revealed myself! It was fun! No one saw it, because the event was too chaotic.

Just like in real life, a certain degree of crowd control is needed at events like that. Perhaps in the future the EMs will provide some.

Again, though, during an event such as this is it too much to ask to suspend disbelief over what your character MIGHT do? Even yelling (in RP) DOWN WITH CASCA is a bit too much when you ALREADY have to deal with the legions of non RP types who spout stuff.

I swear, it will be OK and your RP will continue if you hold your tongue while the event goes on. And again... if you want to be an ACTUAL rp'er, realize that pulling a dagger on Casca would get you a pretty cell next to Avery. So... would your character really do it? Cuz if so you might as well delete her this instant or log her out in the Yew Prison... because that's where she would be if you want to add 'realism'.

edit: 'In the future' will probably amount to squelching or physically removing people who insist or causing a scene while stuff like this goes on due to stuff like the OP did. Yay.

well, unlike the 'bigger shards' sonoma for some reason had like 10 or more public addresses from the new would be Lord.

i watched one with a group, and we had another a hour later.
so by the time sherry and the new guard cpt and the thief or assassin or whatever he was did their show i had only to kill another 10 minutes till the next show.
and on THAT show i was the only person there.

so what better time to try to kill the new (and evil) king?

so i hope that me being there alone didnt grief or troll your event on another shard too much. :coco:

The Gestapo and the KGB did the same thing. Oppressive regimes tend to go for these tactics.

How about each shard gets one punkbuster. One "GM" or anyone with the ability to take action on accounts, and just walk around and ban the *******s that try to ruin the game, the genuine griefers, that arent doing it to roleplay, that arent doing it for fun, they are doing things soley to disrupt other's gameplay. It takes hour for a GM to respond to a report, and by that time its too late. There should be, in the rules of conduct, a griefer clause that gives this "punkbuster" the authority to ban anyone that intentionally tries to disrupt the gameplay of others. At the very least this will make people think twice before they.. 1: field in ghosts, 2: set up gank traps in public houses and gate to cities 3: use large creatures to block events 4: excessive verbal grief 5: spamming invis on people trying to engage in trades ... There are many reasons it would be practical to have this, why we DO have, the lack of response, and complete ignorance of the current staff that supports us is beyond me, we pay a monthly fee and get griefed gameplay. a good number of us have played uo longer than the current staff has been on the team. For whatever reason, whether it be raging teen hormones or an angry redneck who died one too many times, there should be someone there to take action. Lets be honest, if somebody lured 1000 creatures on to you in a row, and attempted to cause your death in trammel, do you think they would EVER be caught doing so? you would quit uo of frustration before a GM witnessed the event. Some people only play uo to get a rise out of others, and it ruins the atmosphere of an otherwise awesome game.

I was unable to attend Ricardo's trial. However, my fuzzy recollection from reading descriptions of it was that (1) it was scripted and there was nothing spontaneous about it, and (2) everyone, or almost everyone, who wanted to attend was jammed into the courtroom gallery, all speech was squelched, and "troublemakers" (e.g., characters with provactive names) were unceremoniously yanked from the gallery.

Seeing already that Casca seems afraid of the citizenry or desires to set himself apart from and above them, I can easily foresee him planning future events to run much like Ricardo's trial.

On Origin the first night it was chaos but on the second he could speak and we asked questions. Most of which he would not answer and when pressed he left. Fled, sherry on the other hand was more willing to talk and did for some time. Then we met with two visitors and discussed what they had heard in their journeys. All in all an informative time. I did attend Atlantic on Saturday, my wifes home shard, and even with the fools parking dragons etc., people for the most part asked questions that needed to be. He avoided them, and I was standing beside Morgana when she did try to ask some questions and was one of those surprised to see a council in the council hall that seem to be comprised of alot of very disreputable characters. Who did not seem to want to hear other viewpoints.

I did have fun at the after-event (which they did not exactly advertise). Someone told one of the "Paladins" to be careful, that assassins were all around as I walked in. I then made sure to position myself directly behind the "Paladin". But as Frey stated, they did not seem very open to anyone outside of their group voicing opinions.

Abigail showed up after the fact, to see if she could request an audience with Casca, but he had fled.

I do suspect something was up though, because Cear Dallben Dragon was there, and to me, it looked as though he was posing as a member of the Chaos Guard. :fake:

This does raise an interesting point. Even incognito, I think many would still suspect me if Casca were attacked in the open.

But there are more ways than one to skin a usurper.

Perhaps more subtle[/] methods are required.
