"Use best weopon" bows?

I was just wondering I havent seen any "Use best weopon" bows drop as loot for ages...Are they gone? And if not what are the best monsters to obtain them? Many thanks in advance!

UBWS bows dont work. you have to be an archer.

They made the property non-spawning at the same time they made it non-functional.

There was a rumour, a few months back, that UBWS on melee weapons could use archery. I tested it, and it didn't work.
But, I suspected it might have also allowed UBWS bows to work. But, it didn't work the first way, so I didn't test the other way.

They do work, they just haven't spawned in like 5 years. I got a comp bow and a heavy.

But anyways, to the OP:
I have always suspected that UBW bows never worked unless you were an archer. I think that's why they were removed?

If I remember correctly, it was removed because
1. It didn't work,
2. You could craft bows with this worthless property.

Now you can't get that property while crafting.

That was a HUGE problem, since now any dexer could have a stand off weapon.

The made it so it owuldn't work and then made it so it wouldn't spawn as a prperty on bows.

They were supposed to modify al the UBS bows but never got around to it.

I will take one out in a bit and see if it works again if it does dont expect it to last long.

I've still got quite a few of them and will take a look when I can to attempt to determine if they're actually working. No promises on a solid answer, anything I do will be most unscientific. The "history" on them, to the best of my memory, was that bows were never "intended" to work with the UBWS property. The property shipped with AOS and was removed a couple publishes thereafter. The idea circulated by dev at that time was that the property would be replaced by a usefull property, many of us were hoping that property would be "lower ammo requirements." As time progressed, it became lost amid other priorities. I'll take a looksee early this week and will get back to ya if it appears to work, however, "buyer beware," I bet if it is "working" that it'll be adressed in the near future.

No, you didn't. They don't spawn any longer.

To answer the other question, no, UBWS weapons do not work on an archer.

Actually; they do, but they dont. I have about 4. If oyu have wep skill & tactics, you can use the specials; but its the same as having 0 archery (or 20 JOAT) skill. Like you can dismount with a UBWS heavy, but its like having no skill trying. Just checked it with my bows.
