Hi guys!

A 97-er returning here but with a few questions.

I downloaded the KR client from fileplanet, reactivated my old acccount and upgraded to ML.
I assume I have all the newest content after its patched?
Or do I need to dl the ML client??
In other words: Is the installed and patched KR-client enough???

I believe you have everything except the shadow/crystal housing tiles that you only get by purchasing the 9th age expansion (don't think there's any new content other than the tiles). Hope KR works out for ya. I can't manage it hehe.

There is no ML client per se; the clients are old-school 2d and Kingdom Reborn. The latter is going to be replaced by a "Stygian Abyss" client, but I suspect they are going to be highly similar. The 2d client will be around for a long time to come; the team realized how much we like it.

It sounds like you're ready to go.

If I understand you correctly, you basically haven't played this game since it was new.....It's best to approach it then like you are playing a brand new game. Pretty much everything has changed, and if you're going to be using the KR client you can drop the "pretty much."

You can rely upon here, UOFORUMS.com, and UOGUIDE.com to help you through. UO.com itself is also of increasing use.

Be careful where you go, we're being invaded at the moment and we have a new King who....Well let's just say there's reasons to not trust him.

Yup they still up. As Europe is the big city then Drachenfels is a village. But we on Drachs loves our village and community

-I am also a returning 97'er, and boy has the game changed. Tank Mages no more. =) For the most part, the changes are good, but some are frustrating. The only CD I have is the original that came with the cloth map, but I downloaded the KR client. So far, I'm hating it. For example, I have to replace my hotkeys rather often, as they tend to just not work sometimes. For example, "Last Object" has to be replaced every time I use a new pick while mining. Also, sometimes, I just can't drop an item on the ground (a problem I'm having as I type this). Also, it seems player corpses rot after about fifteen minutes (that's why I'm mining; so I can make new gear).

-As you've probably figure out now, there are no more random PKs. The world was split into two copies. You're on Trammel, which is PK-free. If you want to deal with PKs, you can use a Moongate to travel to the Felucca version of the world. There's a crazy load of other changes, so you'll just have to read this site and play with it.

Wow, now that's old school

To address a few of your issues:

Also, sometimes, I just can't drop an item on the ground (a problem I'm having as I type this).

To work around this long-standing bug, you can drag the item to the black area around the game screen and try to "drop" it there. It won't be dropped of course, but you should be able to place it better in the game screen afterwards.

If you still find that the KR client is not of your liking, you can always download an updated version of the 2D client from the website here:

Well, corpse decay is not new at all - but on the other hand, you don't need to replace your gear every time you die anymore. You can use item insurance to keep it after death - in Kingdom Reborn, you have to shift-right-click on your character to open the menu for insurance (and don't forget to also select "auto-renew").

-Insurance, eh? That would have saved a LOT of time and aggravation this week. I found out that I can't just walk over Liches and Dragons anymore. Heck, I even lost two corpses in a dungeon of ORCS.

WElcome! I'm an old-school returnee myself, although the last time I came back was in 2001. I miss the good old days... sometimes. Then I get randomly whacked by a dragon in Moonglow, and remember how much I really like things like item insurance.
