Questions about Creating Lockpick Boxes

(asked on Craftsmen, but doesn't seem to be any activity there, so I'm trying where I know people are!)

Hello! Bear with me, as I'm back in the game from a 4 year hiatus, and I'm still trying to relearn everything.

Here is my situation and question... I'm looking to make a "Lockpicking House", and I want to know what Boxes I need to acquire to allow skill gains from 30 Lockpick skill to 95. I keep reading about "Tinker skill 50 Boxes for skill 30 to 50", "Tinker skill 70 Boxes for skill X to X..", etc, etc. But my question is, how can I get Tinker skill 50 boxes from a GM Tinker? Or do I have to personally level up a Tinker to make these boxes AS I get to those levels?

And regarding gains in Lockpicking... I believe I heard I need like 20 boxes of each skill "plateau" (i.e. 30 to 50, 50 to 70, etc). Is that true?

Thanks for help ahead of time :) I look forward to your responses.

oh and what I mean by stop getting gains is you stop getting gains after many tries and you are not breaking picks then its time to move up a notch

basically you need 2 or 3 boxes one made at 50 tinker, one at 70, and one at 100, start with the 50 skill untill you stop getting gains then switch to the 70 skill then 100 or gm box these get you to 95 then its dungeon chests.
they changed the code you used to need multiple boxes at a time now its only one box over and over hope this helps

Ok.. so I need ONE box from a 50 Tinker - meaning the tinker can't be higher skill than 50 right? And then ONE from a 70 Skill Tinker (no skill higher) -- and then ONE more from a GM Tinker? And so I won't need a bunch of boxes any longer, just one box that I pick over and over again?

If so.. this is much better than I imagined! I was afraid I was going to need 20 boxes of each level.

exactly and the skill of the box does not have to be exactly 50,70,100 and actually you could probably just get by with 70 and 100 thats what I did buy your skill to 30-35 get a bunch of pics and go for it if you start breaking alot of pics with no success you need to get a little lower skilled box or start running around doing town boxes in shops and such

OK! So I finally got all my boxes... and I'm setting up a Lockpick House to help others out. I've got the whole thing built, and ready to go.

But my question is this... what permissions do I need to make it work properly? I created a toon on Lake Austin to go visit the THB Lockpicking house (Basara's place), to get an idea how it works... what I saw was "Locked Down" boxes (not Secured), and as a complete new character, I was able to lock and unlock the boxes - and assumedly pick them.

But I can't necessarily "test" my own lockpicking house, so how will I know if the permissions are right? Currently I've set my house to "Public", and I've only "Locked Down" the boxes with the boxes & keyring inside. Also, I've put some books down nearby, in order for someone to read them, but not edit them, must they be "Locked Down" or "Secured"?

Thanks!

I didn't know how to set them up at first, but got help from another shard.

First of all, you lock down the containers, and set the permission to anyone. THEN, you have to go to the keyrings and boxes inside the containers, and change THEIR permission to "anyone" as well (I think you really only need to do the keyring, but some people like being able to open boxes to make sure all the boxes are unlocked, before going back and relocking the boxes).

If you have the containers Secured, then people can steal your keyrings, to grief you.

Books are locked down, then you have to set them to "anyone" to be read. The only way to keep others from editing the books is to "Seal" them by using the red leaf plant resource that some gardeners sell.

OK... from what I remember, SECURING gives me a menu with permissions for access -- Lockdown just plain locks it down (no menu), and doesn't even allow me to move things around the box.

And i'm trying this right now... when I SECURE the box, it gives me the menu.. I set it to ANYONE... but then I can't set the permissions for each item inside. So i'm going to assume then I need to use LOCKDOWN on the box (because then I can set each item on the inside to a lockdown state ... but that doesn't give me a permissions menu). So i'm still stumped...

(p.s. here is my new house.. I've never designed a house before, my first one! And you can see the Lockpick Tower on the right! Each level has the boxes for each skill level. When you reach the top, you use the Black Box to reach 95 Lockpicking! :) )

you have to click the item to get the lockdown permissions box, after it is locked down.
