Warrior questions

Hi, I'm a returning player. I've gleened a lot since I started my account back up in november, but wanted to get some opinions. Been away for like 8+ years, so bare with me.

Ive got 2 warrior characters, a chivalry/mace fighter, and a archer/spellweaver.

Still getting used to warriors using mana... I left around the time that crushing blow/paralyzing blow was all we had.

what is a decent int/dex/str on a warrior-caster? I realize that mana leech, int/mana gear and the "like" could cut some corners, but lets start with stats and come to item properties helping me later.

right now my "paladin" has 100 str/ 90 dex / 35 int.

my archer/weaver has 75 str/ 125 dex / 30 int.

stat scrolls would be awesome i know, but it will be a little while until me and my friends can handle spawns and heavy end-game content.

any suggetions would be appreciated!

thanks!

Melee warriors can get away with having much less mana than archers because of the simple fact that mana leech bows only leech half of what a melee weapon does. I've got a total of 45 mana on my dexxer, but have 95 on my archer. My meleer rarely ever runs out of mana with only 5 mana regen, while my archer with 9 mana regen can run out of mana easily. I think you might find that while a SW Archer is a nice template, it may be a bit too mana intensive right now, at least until you can get the +Stat scrolls.

So to answer your question, I'd say roughly 25 Int (if you go elf you get an extra 20 mana also for a total of 45 for this setup) for your meleer, and 35 for your archer. If these are going to be PvM only characters, I'd suggest both be an elf so you can get the extra 20 mana as a racial bonus for each. You're also going to want to go higher on the dex on your meleer.

Thanks for the response, very helpful.

my archer is an elf so the racial is handy. At max int with an elf, do you arrive at 145 mana?

my meleer is the only original toon on my old account, so he's a human.

Is mana regen more coveted than mana leech overall? or are they equals for a melee toon?

thanks for the help.

Yes, if you have 125 Int you would have 145 mana.

If you're going to be using him for PvM only, I'd suggest doing the human to elf quest.

For melee you need both, but mana leech is the more important of the 2.

thanks for the help.
Anytime, that's what we're all here for.

That opens another can of worms... :(

I am using the Kingdom Reborn Client. From what i hear, that might be enough explaination. heh

To make a long story short, it is bugged. I have a newer mage toon i've worked up, and I decided after getting his magery to 90, that maybe it'd be cool to do the elf heritage quest.

I followed a quest guide to the letter and when i walk up to Darius, he goes on about good job, mission complete, blah blah blah...

anyway, when i remove all the stuff from my paperdoll, and click ok... it doesn't work. seconds go by and it says "you may try this again later..."
clicking ok brings up a customization window, but there is no choices or text.

anywho, i did a bug report and all, sort of resigned it to a hopeless cause... maybe stygian abyss will fix all the bugs in KR.

Looking at your archer weaver, keep this in mind:
Gift of life is the most mana intensive spell there is, but fortunately you only have to use it once in a while. But to cast it, you either need 70 mana or 42 mana and 40% lower mana cost (LMC). Without LMC, you can pretty much forget about spellweaving.

Likewise, word of death will cost somewhere between 30 and 50 mana and is only slightly more effective than a good bow in most situations (base damage on WoD is 300, no matter what you're fighting. Against some opponents (Dark Father, for example), an archer with all the fixins can do 150-200 damage in a shot, making archery better than WoD in those situations)

While spellweaving can help your archer in a lot of situations (try gift of renewal when spawning), typically you'll be better served with another skill in its place.

As for stats, when building your suit, focus on getting stat increasing items. My archer, for example, has an extra 35 points of dexterity on his armor (jackals collar, mace and shield glasses and a killer ring/bracelet set) and about 15 points in strength. This gives you a lot more room to play with stats.

I see the conflict. here's my thought process behind my archer.

I have a mage getting close to gm in several skills, I've got a 3x gm melee toon with the rest of his skills around 95, ... As far as playstyle, I foresaw a "vanilla" archer to be a little bland. just hitting 3 buttons sounded a little sparse.

so to spice it up, i thought id add a new caster skill. I'd heard of people using chivalry with archers, but i already had a palladin.

at least at my archers "level" right now ( warrior skills around low 90's), nature's fury and summon fey are really nice to have.

here's my skills for my archer:

archery 91
tactics 86
anatomy 95
healing 65
resisting spells 81
meditation 88
spellweaving 70

I'll do some more brainstorming and post later.

Say, since you do have spellweaving, have you ever tried immolate weapon with archery?

Does it work?

You can not cast Imm. Weap. with a bow in hand. It gives a message that you must have a weapon in hand in order to cast this. Plus the description of the spell says a melee weapon, and I guess that means non-archery.

Heck, If you're a PVM archer ditch weaving, med and resist and add disco and music. Perhaps add necro and run in different forms(Lich, vamp, wraith) Wraith form will definatly fix any mana problem. plus it's different, not just a chiv/bush/archer like a lot of them.

Yeah, these might be some good options. My next vet rewards are coming up in a couple months, I'll probably get a couple soulstones and store some skills just in case this build turns out to be less than i'd hoped.

does discordance = disco? how does discordance work out for people with it on warrior builds?
