Forbidden Guild Titles

Just wondering if anyone has a clue why certain words are forbidden as guild titles. I don't mean "Assassin" or "Entity" or anything else masking a profane word. Some of the seemingly normal words I've discovered to be forbidden are:

Master (rules out guildmaster, grandmaster, master craftsman, etc)
Tailor
Smith
Shepherd
Tinker
Carpenter
Chef
.
.
.

Seems a number of professional titles are disallowed but adventuring titles like Paladin, Necromancer, and Stoic are allowed. Doesn't seem to be much consistency as Scribe is okay, too.

Does anyone know the rationale behind this? :spider:

I don't remember the reason either, possibly to mess up every RP guild that uses profession titles for its members? Sure seems that way. I wish they'd fix it too. Silly having a guild called the Skara Brae Rangers without any Rangers :D

I love the fact that you're not allowed to make a guild called "Shepherds of Britannia," but I was allowed to make a guild called "World Wide Wench."

It's a funny game sometimes.

I hate the fact that if there's a "bad word" in a word, then you can't use the word. Like even on the weapon engraver, I know a guy that couldn't put his character's name on there 'cause "ass" was in the middle of the name.

Because at one time they decided to do a one-off filter addition where people couldn't have the same titles as NPC's. At this time there were (believe it or not) folks masquerading as NPC's.

I don't remember the exact feature that caused this to be worthwhile when abused for ripping people off. I believe it was also before they added 'titles' to the NPC's themselves, or perhaps it was at that same time.

The players that would disguise their names to match that of NPCs, would hang around town waiting for someone looking to do an escort. If memory serves me right, when a player said "escort" all avail NPCs would respond with where they wanted to go. The disquised player would say they wanted to go to a dungeon, and once there would pk the other player. This was done before trammel, and insurance.

I can't have a character named Cassidy or a guild called Sojourner's Compass but near where I live there is a building with a guild stone for "Swollen Members"... its ridiculous!

You can use master, just not only as a part of a word. I made 3 titles with master yesterday, Co-Guildmaster, TreasureMaster and StoreMaster, not sure if it will work with the other titles too, like SmithOfCove I know it do not look good but better than not being able to make them.

That made me sad, finding out I couldn't name my character "Swedish Chef"

:(

I also have a fire beetle named "Pica sso", I asked if a gm could come and remove the space but they said they couldn't do that type of thing.

I'd like for them to have another look at guild titles and names. It seems to be a lot of latent silliness in some of the decisions they've made over the years.

I think some people with the name or title banker had something to do with that filter
Do bankers accept checks still?
