Hey, a quick reminder for everyone participating:

Make sure you get your entries in before the deadline (January 18th). I understand how excited some of you are, and want to make your design absolutely perfect, but shards without entries will not receive a makeover.

Also, we've relaxed the submission guideline for size and image format - if you need more space to show off, please use it. If the image isn't JPEG, and is too large to send through email, please send us a link to a hosted copy so we can see it.

Obviously cut off some from the sides so it could fit on photobucket, and you'll have to paste the two halves together yourself in your preferred paint program, but there ya go; blank bank image.

Sure, so that way people will post to complain that someone non-native to their shards had an impact on them. "Maybe our shard liked the bank the way it is. Give us back our bank!!"

And that they don't believe there were no entries from a given shard, the devs are lying, etc.

In fairness, you did state in the rest of your post that the bank contest is "a fantastic idea." So I know you're not the nit-picking nay-sayer here, I'm just saying that the proposal has its (major) drawbacks, and that the team's approach probably has less.

Anyway.. I hate to be the one to ask this.. but what would you guys call "too big to send by email"? Hotmail can handle attachments of up to 10mb these days.. might want to at least put a data size limit on it, depending on what you've got on your end. ^^;

Anyone on Sonoma enter? If not then I like to suggest you take some of the nice items on the Asia shards and copy them to Sonoma.

You didn't really read my post, did you.

I actually specifically said you were NOT the nit-picker here.

Let me quote the relevant portion of my post:

I'm rereading the repost on UO.com, and it seems 800x600 is still the limit for emailing and if we want larger we have to host it somewhere?

Will anyone tell me a place that allows greater than 800x600 please? Aside from that godawful imageshack that only seems to work half the time (or less).

Don't get me wrong, I like the idea, I think it's great. But if you're purpose is to revive brit west bank, this definitely won't do it, unless that is you can add a moongate close to the bank as well. The only reason people swamp to luna is that it's right next to the moongate.

Actually, would be curious to know if we *can* put a moongate. I think it would be a good idea, but would it affect too many other things? Make it too hard to code in or anything?

I had planned to put one on my design, but then thought maybe it was a no-no.

What a lovely contest!

We need more information though:

1) Must the design stick to the original floorplan shape, or can the floor layout be modified? For instance by chopping away a corner or expanding a part to make a fancy doorway.

2) Copy pasting bits and pieces (as suggested in UO Herald) will result in many designs which are not technically viable due to how the tiles lay out in the game. Most folks won't understand this - but does it matter? Meaning, how faithfully are we expected to ensure that the tiles would "fall into place" in the game?

3) Are we allowed to add floor levels, or must the bank stay a 1 story building?

4) Since Felucca has a dead and gloomy theme compared to the lush and fruitful Trammel, are we allowed to submit a design as a "set" which has basically the same idea, but is modified for the consecutive facets? For instance if I plan to use a lot of foliage on the Trammel side, it would look odd if it looked as lush on Felucca and would need bare sticks and branches instead.

5) And how about the same design shown as a daytime and nighttime version? Again, can the same design be sent in as a set? Or is it one single screen shot, plain and simple.

6) Can the ground tiles surrounding the bank be modified? For instance if wanting to create a fancy tiled area. Or is it only the building itself?

7) As Lady Kiara asked: Are we to show both the inner and outer design? Or merely outer?

So I'd assume that as long as your images dimensions are under that you can email =) Might be a good idea to upload it and send the link as well, just to be safe?

It is larger than 800x600. I posted it on an image hosting site and in the process it lost a lot of quality (down to about 500 KB), so many of the details couldn't be clearly seen.

I could set up a website somewhere, I suppose.
