I think you should have to do level 2,3,4, and champ to have a chance (unless everyone leaves server)

I see that a lot where players guilds swoop in like the last tier... get a prize. Oh well.

I don't think that's true in my case. I've done more than 25 spawns in fel, tok, ilsh with 3 different characters (tamer/mage, bard/mage/necro, and fencer/ninja). I've started spawns, I've come in level 1, 2, 3, and 4 and all I've gotten is a 0.8 tracking SOT. I see ALOT of players coming in at the end of the spawn and killing the champ. And I see ALOT of replica stuff starting to show up all over the shard. I don't know what the heck is going on. . but it's frustrating and killing my level of fun. Whatever it is, I'm not part of it.

I figure I'm the "average".
But I do make an effort to kill spawn as fast as I can. I see a lot of people killing a few things, taking time to loot etc... then complaining they don't get anything.

Done quite a few spawns recently and Ive goten 20+ SoTs and 4 deco items. Zero replica. I too, am frustrated enough to spend time at invasion citys again.

I don't think it is a bug. I remember reading that all who worked the spawn would have a chance to get PS or replicas. They should have added an area (maybe larger than 90 tiles) like for protection of course.

now i feel very much below average.
i've done prolly close to 80 champs now and only recieved 2 scrolls ( not even good skills )
absolutly 0 replica drops and nothing good for loot either.
this is all working the spawn from 1 to boss on necro/mage/weaver and also on archer.

i sure do drop alot of spawn with wither and natures furry, still nothing from using necro/mage/weaver template tho.

There are confirmed instances (confirmed as in reliable or semi-reliable people on these boards say so, and they have no good reason to lie) of people who have hit only the champ getting a replica, and of people who have killed only spawn and not touched the champ also getting a replica.

It is a matter, it seems, of doing both giving you the best chance.

Interesting bit of info: Myself and 3 friends were doing Deciet 2 days ago and we all died. One guy brought down a character on a different acct to rez us. That character killed TWO liches while rezing. He then hid that char and came back to his other. At the end, the character that killed two of the spawn and never hit the champ got the Necromancer Shroud.

I've done dozens of spawns, started them, finished them, worked them from levels 1,2,3 and 4...... I've gotten 3 of the new transendance scrolls... One for .1 item ID, one for .3 Taste ID ..... and one for .4 in Poisoning (wish I had a char to use that on)..........

But I haven't gotten one single replica or deco item.... which is what I REALLY care about..... NOT a one..... begining to become reminicent of my old days in Doom where everyone around me would get arties left and right and I never got a one until like 3 YEARS later when I finally got my first one and it was as equally disappointing as finally getting a scroll to look and see that it's for .1 in Item ID! *rolls eyes*..... I don't know about how the drops are figured.... but someone said it's the top damager... but I can hardly believe that someone rolling in smacking 2 monsters at the end and then the final boss did TOP damage... and if it is based on TOP damagers..... then I may as well hang it up now..... Shoot between rezing everyone, getting rezed myself 3 times.... and having to go make a bandage run after ever time I die because some monster stole mine and by the time I can get a rez and back to the spawn that monster is either long gone or someones killed it and the body decayed and disappeared long before I returned....

Personally I've found this to be yet another HUGE let down for me..... somewhat like the bookshelves... I see someone is selling the books you need for 9 million gold.... which is insane.... at that rate to get the 6 or 8 I need to replace my empty shelves I have now it'll not only take me 10 years to find that many of the books for sale but it'll take at least another 10 years for me to afford to buy one set of books..... let alone 6 or 8....

I get much more disappointed and I'm likely to quit logging in all together and just give up UO closing all 8 accounts permanently....

The new system is tracking the players working the spawn. Once you've reached a certain threshold, you are automatically added to the list of people who will have a chance of receiving the rare item.

I don't think two birds should give me the correct threshold.

I'm beginning to believe that the advantage isn't enough or doesn't work entirely. Most likely it's programmed in the worst possible way.

The question whether or not the system has a way to differentiate between the killing methods. If the system counts # of kills or if it counts total HP of monsters killed. The latter would be more fair otherwise necro/mages would be the top killer everytime. HP system would be bad because then people who come in at the later levels would get the most advantage. The best system would one that incorporates both would be grand. I have some serious doubts that is the case. I would like to see a bonus in points for those who are there for levels 1-4 but ,again, I serously doubt this is the case.

Then we have healers and the fact they get no credit for participation. Which of course isn't an issue for UO. Just every other MMO.

I've gotten two replicas from Coon (both times the +2 int boots) on reds both times not touching the champ. First time I was on a red archer/macer using a shortbow to kill spawn and the second time I was on a red necro/mage withering spawn.

The guild I'm in on my shard does huge numbers of spawns, and I believe our top replica gatherer is a red archer. So hitting the champ doesn't really help much. It's a **** show as far as I'm concerned.

I can help with the bandie problem - put them in piles of 25 and carry maybe 2 arrows, 2 bolts, and a couple of the chocolate ingredients. Put pots, apples, grapes, petals etc in small piles too. That way, if you get rummaged, you'll still have some left, and there's a good chance they'll catch the crap, not the stuff you need

Out of all the spawns I've done (dozens now), from all levels - starting up to boss, or me there on my own working the spawn, I've had about 10 SoT and one replica, the boots. I don't hang about looting stuff and use area weaps on whatever char I take, archer or swords. I kill a lot and the best scroll drops I've had are when I work a spawn alone. It does seem to be rather uneven though, and I still don't think the drop rate is right.

And I'm with MalagAste on the books - rare, yes. Impossible to get? No. The books are currently ranking up alongside stuff like zyronic claw/inquisitors resolution in terms of availability.

Clearly, the best way to get these is to go around on Stealther to spawns that are active and killing some spawn. Then just stay on the server looking for another spawn.

And because of the current bug, you might even get PS too.

I thought you needed to work most of the spawn in order to be able to get something as well. I have noticed that there is suddenly and consistently a lot more people that join in at the end of the non-fel spawns. It makes me think its not quite working fairly...

just do spawns in fel and control whose is allowed there while you do it. If you get your guild together, as guilds supposedly do in UO, you may find yourself highly successful. As for the spawn raider guilds, don't be foolish and take the bull by the horns unless you're there for the pvp, Travel the spawns less traveled.

How many people have you done it with? How many have they recieved? We've done about 100 and gotten roughly 35 in total. I don't think it's broken at all. (Except from our 6 harrowers 0 replicas, which is annoying).

The drop system isn't broken in my opinion. In 70 finished Felluca spawns on a dead shard with no other participants but extremely trusted close friends who are all donating the items into an xfer pool, we have 84 useful SoTs, 40 useful 120s, and 15 replicas. This matches up just about perfectly to the intended drop rate. The problem with Ilshenar champing is there's such a large pool of people in the tracker that your chances of drop are very poor. 30% divided by X amount of participants. With 15 people running around at an Ilshenar champ that's maybe one drop per 50 spawns for each person. The system is tested and works perfectly, at least on our end. Just be patient or join a Felluca champing guild.

Monsters dry loot? Mmm. Can't say I'd noticed that. They can take one or two items, never had more than that go, and I've died to rummagers plenty! That's why you put your useful stuff in lots of small bundles - better 25 bandies than 250!

I am pretty sure that this theory is wrong. I done several spawns, and I did 80% of it alone, in the final part a guild jumped in (I still did kill several creatures) and we killed the Champion together. I got no reward whatsoever.

I also noticed that certain individuals have specialized on monitoring champ spawns and jumping in short before the Champion appears, getting the rewards.

I've done many many spawns, mostly from the start, and have received very little to show for it. I did finally receive gauntlets of anger from a Baracoon in a party of three, but apart from that, I only received SoT's. I have a feeling that it has more to do with the quirky random number generator than the math involved in the replica drops.

For some reason, there are people who always seem to get the shaft when drops are concerned, and I'm one of them. Case-in-point: during the skeletal lich spawns, I went with a partner most of the time. My hunting partner got 6 trinkets and 3 books. In the same time, I got... nothing. And I had more luck on my suit (with perfection and statue bonus) AND did more damage.

The RNG is evil.

I found, hiding under my bandies, Djinni's Ring. I have no idea how long it's been there or when it dropped. Considering the number of times I've been looted, I'm amazed it was still there. Clean out your pack; if it looks anything like mine, who knows what's in there

I'm with Farsight on the 'some people get shafted'. I too went to the skele liches. I too got nada. And that's despite the fact that twice, at least, it was just my archer and someone elses mage that killed the thing. I've got a full set of bats, a book and a tali, but only because a guildie and my hubby got loads and were very kind to me! My scroll pile numbers 12 now, although damned if I know who's going to use the forensic eval one.

All I can say is 'keep trying'. And for scrolls, go on your own and take an area damage weapon. Kill as much as you can as fast as you can and if you're at Humility, stay on or near the road for the best chance of survival.

I have finally gotten a couple of scrolls. Have done close to 35 now.. some with as few as 3 peeps. I've got a great death robe collection, but nothing more. Peeps in our alliance who have spawned ALOT less have gotten replicas and deco drops. I don't understand it, and yes I'm frustrated as hell too, and yes, I've used 3 different characters, I've started the spawn, come in the middle, come in the end. I've done tok, ilsh and fel spawns. I've done rats, spiders, undead, oaks, deceit, tok, bog. I'd like an explaination. I'm sure others would as well. How about changing it to the doom-like point system! At least I know I"ve got a fighting chance!

Ive helped do quite a few champs now(30+) and the drops seem very inconsistent. I have killed as little as 1 creature per level of spawn and done minor damage to the champ and gotten drops.

I have also killed and leveled the spawn(many many kills/ defeated champ for days on end and have gotten nothing.

I have came late hit the boss a few times, died in the first few min and received a drop upon resurrection.

Personally I think the new drops need some tweaking, its FUBAR.

I dont know maybe my chars are just unlucky, i have worked over 60 spawns and got 1 replica and 3 scrolls. I have worked over 20 spawns to lvl 3 or 4 by my myself.

I am a necro mage and normally kill more spawn then others. i dont stop to loot.

the 1 replica i got was the first spawn i did when i came in late. i think theres a bug.

I understand the frustration but in my opinion from the champing i do the drops seem fine, sometimes i/group dont get any SOT's and no replicas,

Other days the group gets 10-15 SOT's and a replica on one spawn

To me the numbers just balance out over time and you probably need to get to fel more and out of those stupid tram spawns(the drop rates always going to be lower the more people there are!)

We did 3 Harry's in a couple hours last week.

We got 3 straight drops.

1 of the reds got 2 of the drops...and there was like 20 of us...and he got the same drop both times. The Skull post.

Me personally, all I have ever gotten is a Slime Statue. lol
