Murder Report Timer

I thought of this because I like killing AFK macro'ers. Make it so there's a timer of one minute to decide to report a murder, if it is not reported than obviously the player was AFK, and the killer deserves the free kill, as well as the loot ^_^

What about people who lose connection, or game crashes and wont be able to report it in time?
I like the idea, I was able to report a murder that happened like 3 weeks ago.

Well, they could make it so it is one minute of active gameplay or such. Like when it takes active playtime for counts to go away.

If you loose connection, your character will stay around for more than one minute and there is no guarantee that you can log back in.

Real life example from just last week: A friend of mine lives in an area that was having bad storms. They lost conn and when they tried to re-connect Atlantic was not available. It wasn't due to their local ISP, or UO... one of the intermediate connections was affected by the storm.

Meanwhile, I'm still online and playing... even able to log out and back into different characters. Should I assume that since the other persons character refuses to answer... I am entitled to PK them? Nope and if you do, you deserve a murder count.

Just because your connection is fine doesn't mean the other guys is fine too. And not all lost conn issues are temporary.

You must have a lot of dumb scripters where you are going... most of the one's I encounter are very hard to catch because they auto-recall the second I appear. I'd rather report them and possibly get an entire account banned rather than just kill one... and who suffers there... me, cause I get the murder count. They just loose what's in their pack and a little insurance $$.

I'm just a greedy thief, oh well. It's worth a shot. I mean people have tried suggesting worse things. I prefer to let the person hang around so I can benefit from them =)

I approve of a murder report timer. Let it be around 10 minutes aprox. Lose connection? It's a part of life. But chances are you should be able to log back in in under 10 min. if it isn't a really serious connection loss. But hey, if it is, as I already said, it is a part of life. But looking at the number of people who really do play in fel, losing connection and missing that 10 minute counter will not be the end of the world.

It wouldn't bother me if a dropped connection meant I couldn't count someone. After all, it's not as if you can really send someone into stat loss nowadays. And if you dropped con and didn't see the player who killed you, you're probably not going to know if they were blue, and could have turned red on "your" count.

So I think a short timer is just fine. For the rare times when you die after dropping connection, is it really that big a deal when you can't count?

It would be better to read those posting and add to that discussion rather than starting a new one.

The biggest problem with a timer is that script program can auto-respond to the murder reporting gump, negating this idea completely.

10 to 15 minutes tops with a method to prevent scripting would work for me.

Unattended scriptors should NEVER be able to report a murder count hours after the event occurs, there DOES need to be a time limit.

By the same token though, the "penalty" for being red has become all but non-existant over time anyway, so *shrug*... guess it balances out in the end.
