I placed a house today and i can not lock down or secure anything. I have loged in and out and Still nothing. I have searched the "knowledge base" and can't find the answer as to how to fix it and this is what the Gm sent me. What a crock of Crap. Have a new home and can't even move in.

Try a different char, I had this problem awhile ago. I just switched chars and then went back to that one and it worked.

From the Players Corner FAQ ... is this possibly the symptom and cause? Why can't I lock down or secure items in my house when friends and co-owners can? It just started to occur.Got a pet ... like a horse or something? Try locking it down. If you get a message related to honoring then you've apparently honored something (perhaps even in your house!). Locate a "quick" kill (cow, sheep, bull), honor it and kill it. You should now be able to lock/secure items once more.

I'll try that because I did see something about honoring somthing the first time. Im not sure how it works and have been playing with it on a macro. Thank you both for the sugestions.

You shouldn't have blacked the GM's name out.. we have a right to know who the ignorant ones are.

This may be one of those annoying things that will clear up after a server maint; has there been a server maint since you placed the house?

Did you already have a house that is now condemned?

ONCE I went out and honored a cow and killed, I could lock things down and secure them.
Omg the site the gm sent me to only told me what commands to type in, and that is all I could find for myself. Thank you All for your Help, at least the player base still cares enough to help, and I appreciate it.

If you think that's bad, read what happened to me. You wouldn't have read it unless you'd visited the Spiels N Rants forum recently. (When players report EA's worst behavior, it gets moved away from the main forums. Mods have always been strangely silent about that.)

C'mon over to Players Corner and review the FAQ and (if you use it) the UOA FAQ. Is there something you know that isn't in them? Let's get it on record!

T_Amon_from_work, the work that goes into the faqs and stickies is much appreciated, you all do a fine job

that said... a player should not have to consult three or four different places to find an answer to a question

and honoring interferes with locking items down? how bizarre is that?

glad Millie got the answer to her question, but what about someone that doesn't use Stratics forums..... seriously, it was years before I began reading these forums, and while it's routine for most to check here I'm sure there are those that do not

Agreed. The near requirement that someone who plays UO read these forums is tantamount to EA delegating responsibility to a forum they do not have to pay. Free support staff == suckers.

This forum should be for issues/ideas and not problems. The fact that EA can't help their own paying customers is pitiful.

Why can't GMs just say "I don't know how to help you." rather than referral to a website which has no answer. Honesty is better than the superiority complex these GMs have.

Honestly I don't think Stratics should be for Issues or Ideas either. More of a discussions of the game play and interactions with out fellows not how to make or break mechanics.

I agree with you.. but the fact that EA reads this site for ideas and issues speaks more to the problem than the answer.

Just look at how many EA/Mythic people log onto Stratics. It has become the un-Official board for UO. They want the feedback just not the upkeep. It is the reason why important cheating/bug posts get completely ignored and yet threads about a deco item get replied to.. It allows selective enforcement.

Recently, a bug about dying swampy armor has come about.. I will bet $100,000 that this gets addressed before the map bugs I've been informing them about since the beta test get addressed. They only fix what is easy to fix. They only add what is easy to add (bookcases/eye candy).

At the risk of sounding too bitter, they won't balance anything before SA because of the mountain of complaints they will get. They won't get their hands dirty at all.

In Mythic's defense, EA does not allow them to discuss bugs or account issues on the forums, not even in the form of lighthearted opinions. EA has a strict policy of silence, and they stick to it -- and enforce it among their studios -- even when doing so is unprofitable for EA. Their policies trump their profitability. This is actually not very harmful to their console and single-player ventures, but nearly every MMO venture outside of EA uses them as an example of what not to do to your customers and developers.

I'm not posting any secrets or conspiracy theories here. Everybody who reads about the industry knows this.

You need to file a GM review for this. That was absurd. I even checked the player base for you last night and did not find anything related to housing that was pertinent. I did however find house commands. In fact, when searching the following terms, "lock down, secure, house, cannot" I am told that cannot and house have been omitted from the search because of how common they were. Regina, you should look into this. That GM should be coached and then smacked in the back of the head.

I don't disagree with you at all on having to hunt all around for answers to game bugs. However, just suppose we could take all the FAQs on these forums and put them in one place. How would you organize them in such a way they would not be cumbersome to use, but yet contain proper content and be easily maintainable and read at the same time?

Just askin' ... it's been sort of a peeve of mine.

Stratics Network page might be a good place to start... there is *lots* of useful information all over those pages, but a lot of it needs serious updating/consolidating... the pages are easy to navigate, familiar... for me, it would be ideal

I'm a big fan of the Item Catalog there, and that format could be expanded to include newer information gathered about the items already listed and many other things for crafting, hunting, gardening, whatever.... as for the updating part, just checked, and the Holiday Items section seems to have stopped at 2004

This happened to me. It lasted for that character for about a month, and it fixed it's self. I could secure and lock down on my co-owner account and other characters on my main.

Two things you can try to fix this problem.

A. Try changing your foundation style

B. Resizing your house (I wish to resize this house) Not 100% sure on the spelling.

DevilsOwn: Updates to stratics are actively being worked on right now (finally got enough volunteers to start the job, and we can always use more.

A lot of updates have already hit the Hunter's Guide and Item catalogue, and I'm personally working on what will be an updated Tailor profession essay (the current one appears to be pre-Trammel, with a few later things (like colored leather) added, but nothing since right before the introduction of Tailor BODs. Now, there is a bit of out of date stuff - nearly every thing in the original writer's "dos" and "don'ts" are the exact opposite now, due changes in vendor pricing.

Pretty good points I feel. I played for years and years before I even knew about the UO Stratics boards. EA used to have a website for support and answering game questions and it used to have some good information as well.

The sad thing is though, is those boards seem to be less known than these boards. Interestingly enough though, the boards had responses from players and not EA support. So I completely agree with wanting feedback but not wanting to have the upkeep of maintaining a site either.

Look, I'm glad that EA is doing support and forums the way they are which is letting us over here at stratics do it because frankly, we just do a much much better job at it - let's face it - even I didn't know that people couldn't lock down things because they were honor bugged - guess you learn something new every day - I must admit that I was pretty impressed that someone actually knew the answer to such a weird problem
