a "diversion kit" from the thief guild master.

can you guess what it might do?

i dunno.

it could be dropped and give "you push something invisible" messages to people nearby. maybe it even moves around a bit...

it could give trackers false leads?

course, there would be timers and limits on how many you could have going at a time.

i dunno. haven't thought about it much, but it could be a sound idea. maybe.

While I have nothing against the "pushthrough" idea, I think that currently tracking is one of the most balanced things in this game and should be touched only with _extreme_ caution. If you start giving people ways to fool tracking, you should increase the chances of tracking people, sending balance into the "unknown" region.

Having both a thief and a tracker, I think tracking is perfect as it is. While both tracking and stealth are not the most realistic implementation of the skill, a good tracker can find almost anybody if he knows his craft, a good thief can _possibly_ avoid being killed by a skillful tracker but can hardly do anything, while skilless thieves and trackers will find that their skilled counterparts are just running circles around them. Good stuff that rewards cleverness on both sides.

Making it easier for stealthers, probably wouldn't be a good thing. As it is now, I rarely hide when getting chased anymore. I find the only time I use hide/stealth is when I am setting up a mark. Once the item is stolen, I run until they give up.

It got to the point that I could steal something, and 10 seconds later, the chase would be over because I was able to hide then stealth away...la

Actually, it's not the point. The point is to have fun. What fun is it to steal an item, but getting to the point where players won't chase for it?

Hell, I logged in this morning, stole a 6 stone sword at the Luna bank, didn't get noticed...bah. I ended up giving the sword back since my bank is full and if the player had attacked, he would have gotten guard wacked since I was blue to him.

IMO, grey status should come back. If you steal something from a player...even if you aren't noticed, you should be grey to that player, until you die...la

This kind of goes against the "only if noticed" part. Why bother having a check if you're going to be gray anyways? In other words, bad idea.. blah

You are just afraid that you can't get away with the item. Going grey would not be guard whackable. The point is...more fun...steal, run...get away...if there is no chase involved...the fun isn't there...la

Easy answer. If you get noticed you go grey and can be whacked. If you don't get noticed you are grey (i.e. can be attacked) but do not APPEAR grey and cannot be whacked. Easy enough, isn't it?

Point taken, I'd support this.

Nah I just liked the idea of getting away completely scott free and being able to taunt blues.. but that's not as much fun as being chased.

I'm encouraged to hear you support the way it originally was.
Well, not exactly. With perma you appear grey to the guy you stole from, though blue to everyone else. I think you should appear blue to _everybody_ until attacked, with forensics being the only way to determine your real status (which does not happen, forensics only says if you were in the thieves guild, not if you get whacked).

Totally agree with this whole statement.

YES i am afraid od being chased (one reason why i love it!!!)

Yes there is not as much fun as getting away without a chase.

One thing tho how come with all but cursed items when i have just stolen, gone grey, been killed, got ressed i still have the items?

Surely this needs to be changed??

Much as it is ammusing, people spamming whers my F**ing item!!!

I think it kind of defeats the point of flagging.

Oh come on, most of the fun comes from people's ignorance about their own inventory.. the other part comes from the chase.

Yes, this little "bone" has been around for years. For a while it was fun to taunt the marks by just stealing the item, then not running and laughing, knowing that their item would still be in my pack when I rezed. That got old, so now, I actually go back and look for the mark after I rez to get the item back to them. LOL, then I steal it again, and 9 out of 10 times, get away from them...so I don't feel bad for misusing the new game mechanics.

On a side note, this only happens right after a steal, outside the guard zone. If you are guard whacked, the item returns to the mark as intended. Also, if you rez after the steal, and still have the item...then get killed again, the item will stay with your corpse...la

Its one of the reasons i dont feel the thrill of the chase that i should,i get it when stealing a scroll at champs, MY GOD they dont like thieves!!!

but other than that i mainly steal for the sheer annoyance factor to my target (ive mainly played on prodo shards).

How useful would 30%ep be on siege?

cant decide whether that or resist spells for siege

A trapped box is all you need to avoid the mages here. A few apples to get away from the necros. It's the mass of melee fighters you should prepare a template to play against...la

Yeah...there are a bunch of ninja archers/tamers running around. It's why I love to have GM detect on when I am running around. It's also fun to reveal the hiding tamers when they are out PvMing. I can't tell you how much loot I have collected off corpse from players that I have revealed and then the spawn turns on them...rofl. Have I mentioned how much I love playing a thief/looter?...la

Yeah, there have been many complaints by the PvP crowd on Siege about the amount of people who run stealth, or at least have GM hiding. Having detect on Siege is great. I love when reds run into the Luna bank, hide and start banking, then I reveal them, and watch the blues noto the heal out of them.

The reds on Siege will kill you on sight without any worries, but at the same time, they will cry like little babies when you steal from them at the banks. I've scored numerous regs from the Siege reds. I used to have a policy of not stealing from reds in town, but their actions have soured me away from this opinion. A lot of the reds are archers, nothing is funnier than to steal all of their bolts or arrows, then watch as the blues turn on them...and they can't fight back. Or to steal their bandies or garlic, then watch as they try to fend of the blue horde...la
