I feel like I stand no chance with all these necro mages and balanced bow archers. So I’m looking to the pros. What is your favorite sword to use because of its specials, and what mods do you like on it?

Well, let me respond based upon observation.

I see many different swords weapons out there.

Katanas are still popular.

Bokutos are still in use, though less so (considerably) than before they were nerfed. But the properties on them can be so awesome that their use survived the nerf.

Anything that can be DPed is still used.

UBWS Krysses are in wide use.

Mages seem to like high-damage, slow mage weapons to use for defense/additional damage. (Viking Swords, Broadswords, etc.)

Really just find one you like. What works for others isn't necessarily going to be what works for you. If you're a crafter and you don't know what to make/sell, either make a little of everything and cross your fingers, or run to the Yew Moongate and see what folks are using.

I appreciate your response. There was no real help from the rest of this thread. The reason I was asking is because I was visiting Atlantic for 24 hours so that I could buy some gear for my girlfriends swordsman and my archer. I dropped 150 mil between her swords, my bows and several rings/bracelets. I totally re did her suit and she is a force now with those weapons. Too bad all those atlantic vendor owners didn't promote their items huh? :) Thanks again Galen.

Crescent Blade mainly. Crescent Blade is a balance of speed and power, always does 35 damage Criticals on Lightning Strikes for me, and can do Double Strike/Mortal Strike. Usually use Mortal Strike to keep someone low on health after i do a Critical, or use Double Strike after i do a Disarm, if both hits do Lightning it really hurts. Plus since it's a two-hander, i gain +5% Parry chance, total of 40% Parry chance with 120.0 Parry.
I also use Blade of Insanity for AIs/Stam Leech, Ornate Axe for Disarm/hard hits, Bokuto for Nerve Strike, Cleaver for Bleed/Poison, and a No-Dachi for Riding Swipe.

I prefer SSI/Dam Inc/Stam Leech/Lightning/HLA on my weps. HLD i get from my glasses. No Chiv on my temp so can't use Divine Fury to regain Stam, and i tend not to carry around a bunch of Total Refresh pots, which is why i like Stam Leech so much.

reason there was no help is because you didn't give us any info.

what are your skills?

what are your stats?

what is your fighting style?

be specific and you get specific answers.

here's an example:

"hello. i am a bushido/poison/swords with 135 dex and i'm trying to figure out what kind of weapon and what mods i should be looking for for PvP. my suit has 75% DI without a weapon. i prefer to be able to disarm, mortal strike, and (of course) poison my target as quickly as possible. then, i need a hard hitting finishing move. so, what weapon/combo should i be looking for and what mods will help the most?

thanks."

instead of

"hi. mages kill me. how do i stop that from happening?"

My favorite PvP weapon is a Mage's Rune Blade with SSI 30%, some HLD, Hit Lightning, and some Mana Leech.

A Mage's Rune Blade gets a Faster Casting bonus (you can actually end up with FC2) so it plays well when using Chiv for secondary healing.

Specials? The primary is Disarm...Very nasty against other meleers. The secondary is Blade Weave which hits with a random special. I really like that combo.

It's a two-handed weapon so it plays well with Bushido.

If you weren't particular about the weapon class, I would have said a Diamond Mace since it is one-handed and allows you to chug potions as a third way of healing/refreshing/curing.
