Seeking the truth about Meraktus (Labyrinth)

I desperately hope that this post reaches the eyes of a Game Developer. Myself and a large amount of players have been trying to figure out the truth about the "partial champion spawn" found in the rear of the Labyrinth. There is information that the champion is named Meraktus, and is accompanied by "Tormented Minotaurs".

There are players that are swearing that they have seen and killed Meraktus and there are players that say he was taken out of the game. I have made many, many posts about this which you can read here: http://vboards.stratics.com/showthread.php?p=1005539&posted=1#post1005539



Question one: Can Meraktus still spawn in the rear of the Labyrinth?

Question two: If he does still exist, will he drop rewards with publish 57?

Question three: Is there ever a chance that the Labyrinth champion spawn will give a title in future updates?

Any "player" or "moderator" can say what they want about Meraktus, but it doesn't carry the same weight as what a Game Developer has to say. Thank you for any information you can give. Or, if anyone knows a better place I should post this to get the attention of a Dev, then please let me know.

Yes, it exists. Seen it myself, on 2 occasions.

Yes it will have Replicas (per statements made by the UO team). No Scrolls of Transcendence though.

Thank you for the feedback GalenKnighthawke. UOGuide is actually where I have dug up a LOT of the information I already have on Meraktus. I don't know if your a game developer or not, but I've heard reports that only a few months ago Meraktus was taken out of the game.

Not trying to knock any responses, but I'm seeking a Dev to give a definite answer to this, as I feel they are the final say in the matter. Or...if you are able to get him to spawn on your shard, and take a screen-shot of it from this point on, that would work to.

Not a dev either but I will chime in that he indeed exists and has not been taken out of the game. Regine has recently commented on this spawn and the fact that it will give replicas but no scrolls because it contains no alter as Galen mentioned. There is a somewhat recent thread discussing the matter.

Thank you Phantus very much. I was very much hoping that Meraktus was still in the game. Your link is wonderful. Especially because I'm planning an attack on the Labryinth, and if publish 57 won't change much in the way of things, then I'm no longer going to wait for it to hit before I organize the player run event.

Our guild did a Meraktus this week on Sonoma. As an aside, there are also talismans for both Meraktus killer (I have only a 33%, max is 100%) and Meraktus protection (I have a 59%, max is 60%). These were obtained from heartwood quests. Good Luck!

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who picked up on a rude undertone.

There is indeed something rude about someone who comes on with a question players should be, and indeed are, able to answer, saying he wants a dev answer...But why would a dev answer when the players can answer this easily, and the devs have already discussed it indirectly. (In other words, why make plans for the Minotaur Champ spawn if it was known to not work? And if it was known by players to not work, but the devs didn't know it, then what good would a dev response do?)

And every player response he got, the answer was basically, "thanks, but you're not a dev, are you."

Wow...I couldn't have been more miss-interpreted. The reason I kept saying that is because on the shard that I play on (Catskills) there are players that I game with which I know would be strong enough to hunt down and kill kill Meraktus. But as they told me "I'd help you, but Meraktus doesn't exist". So, I figured that if I had a Dev directly tell them "Yes he does". Then that would be the final word.

In no way did I mean to downgrade anyone's replies. In fact I greatly appreciate their feedback. I'd love to know what I should expect when going after Meraktus. How many players should I rally? How long did it take you? Do you have any good methods/tips for me? Aside from a bovine slayer does a repond work on minotaurs too?

The reason people are hesitant to help on catskills is this. This spawn has been attempted 3 times I know of and participated in. each time resulted in no advancement of the spawn. The most recent was a month ago when I organized a venture that had between 15 - 20 peeps and about 5-6 greater dragons. we worked the spawn for two hours from 8pm to 10 pm. At no point I mean never did we see any calls for reinforcements which is the indicator that the spawn is advancing.

Now before all the people jump in and say were you working the spawn completely? I watched the posted video from over in uo forums. and Yes the spawn was being worked in the same manner we worked it. so after 2 hours of dropping the spawn as fast as it could spawn we gave up. There seems to be an issue on catskills shard with this spawn and until it can be said that it has been done on catskills, you wont have your answer.

again 2 hours of solid working the spawn and not one message "calling for reinforcements" had we even seen one messgae of that manner the group would have remained to fight it out but alas nothing but frustration.

I understand what your saying Uthar Pendragon, and I used a LOT of what you documented in my information gathering about Meraktus. And it is the very last line of your post that has me thinking it would be a good idea to wait until publish 57 hits before attempting an assault on the minotaurs. It is very likely that Catskills has that very issue with Meraktus "resetting". You may have been doing everything correctly, in fact I'm sure of it. But it simply is bugged.

I do hope that after publish 57 hits that you will help our small army in storming the Labyrinth to track down and kill Meraktus. Thank you very much for your feedback though. As I said, I've read several of your posts and have even used hot links to them in several of my past posts about Meraktus.

It just very well may be the case that Catskills, for whatever reason, is more prone to the "Meraktus faulty resetting bug". But with all the dozens of replies this thread has gotten I'm convinced it is very possible and have no doubt that Meraktus is indeed hiding back in the Labyrinth.
