I'm having him washed & sent to my tent. I'll think about releasing him sometime in the next few days.I will take one of those too *raises hand*
the Santa guy that is , oh and make it to go please![]()
Dam, well I am glad that we cant find any copies of UO on the store shelves then!!!!
And for the male Posters I yell "Where Is Miss Claus?" !!!!!!!!
You hear that Warhammer? You are mediocre.EA's titles, on the other hand, have done somewhere between OK and a little disappointing. None of them have outperformed.
I'm sorry...what did you say? I was daydreaming again....Well, I was going to post something about how musing about possible job cuts is just bad morale - whether or not it's true, it's always better to ignore it unless it actually happens. But as I read the thread, I realized that people seem to have already found a way to distract themselves![]()
MMMMMmmm....Do you honestly expect me to read or retain a single word of that article with a thumbnail of this on the same page?!

and you think warhammer is better than mediocre?.... just wait till darkfall steals players from every existing mmorpgYou hear that Warhammer? You are mediocre.
Mmm... Do remember the only thing (supposedly) that kept them from canceling UO when the shift to mythic went over was mark jacobs. As for EA making cuts...Almost every job is making cuts...Will they cut UO? Probally not since UO is making money.
What, their Euro players?and you think warhammer is better than mediocre?.... just wait till darkfall steals players from every existing mmorpg
Puleeze...you would see more skin on a beach in the summer time. It's nice to see Stratics turning into a softcore porn web forum.
yea it launches in europe first, that doesnt mean its not gonna launch in the US shortly after, and of course it will have US servers at that point, the same way uo and wow both have servers in other continentsWhat, their Euro players?
You might want to re-check the info on Darkfall. It's gonna be harder for non-Europeans to buy, let alone play, than it is for a European player to get a UO boxed set. And no servers outside Europe, either....
i dunno what u've been reading... im sure the makers of darkfall aren't stupid, if they kept the game only in europe they'd make very little money, they would have to have american, japan and korean server to make a lot of cashDemonus - keep believing that, because that's not what the released info indicates....
As for the on-topic subject, I get the feeling a LOT of the cuts are going to be in the area of the company dedicated to "Spore", as that product didn't do ANYWHERE near as well as they thought it would.
Actually Spore is nominated to be the most pirated pc game this year.Demonus - keep believing that, because that's not what the released info indicates....

Ok...so this is OT, but I must!Yummy!!!
Sadly cuts are happening everywhere, my husband is staring down at possibly no job in a few months. It's scary business. But I agree with some of the other posters, UO is a money maker even if not huge. Would be kinda silly to let it go now.

That witty lil comment caused the Piper to laugh so hard he spat coffee everywhere!![]()
At least the northern star isnt in the southern hemisphere!!!!
50k x 12 months x $12/month = $7.2 million / yearI would be surprised if EA ever officially kills UO, at least not until the subscription fees are out weighted by operating costs.
I don't know much about servers and operating costs associated with them, but if we have even 50,000 subscribers, thats on average of $500,000 per month in subscription fees. Assuming taxes, processing payments, etc...there is a lot left to run the game minimally and still make a profit.
They cant really run it in zombie mode, because in the last 2 years subscribers have shrunk from 125K to 75k to ??.If they eliminate most of the devolpers, and most of the staff...they can basically run the game for cost of the bandwidth and server up keep.
Which is pretty much what it feels like they are doing already.
Stop pointing out the obvious and let the UHallers have their fun. They have been hiring new developers and they just announced the resumption of EM program. But lets ignore all the signs that point towards a healthy future with committed investment and speculate!![]()
