It looks like breaking rules in 'game worlds' really does indeed have consequences in the 'real world' at times.

She's being charged with hacking, not the murder of a game character.

It even seems like she was busted for hacking via social engineering which is a common form of 'hacking' other players' accounts, and one that the game developers cannot have much control over.
I'd really like to see her use the 'but it is just a game' defense though.

I gotta say, no one should ever be called a "hacker" because someone gave them their username/password and they used it... no matter what they used it for, or how long it had been since they gave it to them. For peats sake.
