the "we're sorry" thread? It's going to be a long, long time before the heavy activity of this board pushes it off the front page.

If a vuvuzela is blown in UHall OT does anyone even care?

There's two ways I see off the top of my head to read the question of this thread, so I'll cover both:

Firstly, the reasons the thread was closed were covered in the thread itself. Any points that could be made in the thread could be made better in a new thread, without the heavy baggage carried by that thread.

Secondly, why it was locked, and not removed completely.
That would be the same reason I didn't go for a purge the instant I made the "Returning Uhall:OT to normality" thread. I figure that the posts made fell within acceptable bounds at the time they were made, and the discussion seemed important.

Although I could have run a pool on how long it would have taken for someone to accuse me of censorship.

It's not like that thread was really having any activity like it was when it was first created.

Thor. . .they locked it for the same reason Steb deleted OT rather than just banning the people involved.

Overreaction.

Fayled is causing problems. Instead of banning him, they lock the thread and take away everyone's ability to participate.

*golf clap*

Did you miss the part why I encouraged a new thread to be made?

The reasons are really quite clear and easy to understand.

And yet, my point flew right over your head.

You have a problem with a particular poster making a mess, you deal with the poster, not lock the thread.

WTF do they teach you guys and gals in Mod school these days??? ;)

Not in the slightest.

You're apparently dramatically missing the point for which it shouldn't be an active thread.
See, an RoC-breaking ****storm is all good when the RoC's on a temporary hiatus. But when the RoC comes back in to play, it becomes a problem.
The thread would have been locked if there'd been a discussion about bunnies and ponies in there.

The only way the thread wouldn't have ended up locked is if people had left it alone, which was never going to happened, obviously.
But it was predictable that the instant the padlock came out, there'd be a whole lot of drama, and twisting the whole things out of context.

Fair warning, too.
This thread would be "Discussing moderator actions", so its days are also numbered.

Well. . .at least they taught you the importance of stifling criticism and dialogue.

*claps*

And to your point, it has long been the policy of Stratics to allow the discussion of moderator actions if it is important to the community at large. Did they change that too in their desire to implement a dictatorship?

But whatever. You have the shield. Far be it for me to question Frau Dictatorette.

:D

Really? Are you thinking of a different stratics here? Every time I saw postings that discuss moderator actions they didn't last very long.

Re: Hey Kelmo. . .

Let's be clear, here.
This is not OT:NHB.
The RoC applies here, as it did prior to the incident.
Read it, learn it, love it.
