Myself and a few friends are on Lake Superior literally not playing at all. We're waiting around for this to launch then are all in.

I'll start a guild, website, discord, etc and pretend I'm 16 again, blowing off chicks for UO. I wish we had factions however. Never cared for vice vs virtue or order va chaos.

HMU here if you're playing and want to plan together.

Or ICQ 402886

I'll list my discord when I get out of bed.

Looking forward to this as well, and to PvP aspects with noob gears.
I do hope there is no Trammel part with this version!
Also would be interesting to have no insurance, a perm death aspect of sorts, and quick re-build of skills if you die a perm death.
Perm death would mean you need to "re-roll" and rebuild a new char, but faster. And no PS.
Complete nerf of pet PVP damage would be also interesting.
"Divine intervention" for criminals, would be cool also, where a criminal has something random happen, ranging from sudden death, to being thrown in "jail" for x time, to being teleported to a random remote isle unable to get back for x time, etc, etc. Make it count to be a criminal more meaningful ways.
Hopefully no scripting also.
Something new for us to try. I hope it will be a completely new game experience unlike what we have had so far.
I hope that this gives PvP the polish that is badly needed for long time.
I know, perm death sounds bad, but would add more meaning to play and risk/reward balance. As long as the cheats are not allowed/cultivated.

It will be cool to go back in time also, either way!

How would Perm Death work.
You are a ghost. Someone tries to raise you. There is a chance for complications. These range from stat loss, etc, to permanent loss of the character and bank holdings, pets etc. The chance will depend on criminality of the character, and also the level of skill of the character raising you vs healers in city etc.
Sounds crazy, right? But interesting.

Maybe..lol. Who knows when.
This perm death and comps on rezing existed in some old MMOs, and it was absolutely cool. But these games also included a "quick way back", i.e. you could start a new unskilled character and build skills rather quickly, though the "normal way", and some "skill potions" that were a little hard to get sometimes.
Would be interesting to see what the folks doing the programming/planning eventually come up with.

Actually the jailing was not too long. I think in this particular game was short, and someone could pay your bail to get you out. The crime committable was only theft from other players, as there was no other PvP for that game. It was the forefather of the present day MMO's was on line graphics, was run by a PDP mainframe cyber computer then from a university. Very immersive and extremely hard to play, had a 10 level dungeon and hundreds of different monsters and many traps, but folks liked the challenge.
Some adaptations of this stuff to NL UO server, may reduce-prevent non-consensual PvP or predation on weaker or beginning characters maybe? Not sure.
Definitely had perm death if you failed raise one way or another. So death had real meaning.
Another adaptation of that MMO, I think named "Avatar" was with better graphics (but still line graphics-it was the beginning of the internet era, or just before internet era started), had monsters with abilities to destroy stats of characters, and "stone" a character by "medusa" type monsters. Then you had to unstone that character by a special magic spell, and if that failed or "comped" stat loss or perm death had a possibility to happen.
Good old days of ancient MMO predecessors. Some still exist I believe.

How about character aging, so players will die at some point, but not all the same type (shard wipe). That way different players would/could be king of the hill at some point. Any in game death has a chance to be permanent, or damaging (skill loss), and each in game death will take away from your character's age, so the more you die, the shorter your lifespan will be.

Yep. And the whole idea imo may best be to just have fun. You can lose a character, and if you are not careful the entire bank, but at the same time you can start another character with accelerated skill gains, so you can be back at the game. Would be of interest to see other than PvP folks in the NL also, doing different "non-PvP" things. Guard areas may be just one way of protecting them, but maybe other ways, making being a criminal really really count, while not touching consensual PvP.
