I reactivated an account and I've been playing characters that I've had forever on them.
Last night I decided to create a new toon to hold skills off my soulstone so they aren't just sitting on the stone and I can use that for other stuff. If it tells you anything about how long it's been since I created a new toon, last time I created one, you actually started in Britain when that's the town you selected. Imagine my surprise when I go through the character creation process and it asks where I want to start and then it throws me to "New Haven"???
What's the point of asking me where I want to start if it's going to throw me to "New Haven" anyway? Why not just ask me for the name or whatever and then throw me to the town they want me to start in?
Anyway, I was running UOAM, which I know isn't being updated any more but since EA/Mythic doesn't provide anything similar and it is a critical tool for the game (to my way of thinking) so I see there is a moongate a little north east of where I started. I go running over there and I'm immediatly chased by tons of skelles and such but weave my way through and there's NO MOONGATE there? I see the dirt spot where there used to be a moongate but there's nothing there???
I go back to the starting spot and still can't find any way out or any NPCs telling me anything about how to get out of New Haven.
Finally, very frustrated with the whole creating a new toon process in UO, I created a Help Petition with the "I'm Stuck" button because I was stuck in "New Haven" and wanted to be in Britain. Here's the text of what I sent in my request:
I waited another 90 minutes or so killing skeletons and stuff wasting time since I don't really need any fighting skills or any skills on this toon, it's just going to hold skills from my soulstone... finally I got a response from a GM as follows (not posting the GM name per policy)
So basically, in the end, he answered nothing... I logged my newb toon out someplace, waited for him to time out... used a different toon, grabbed a backpack with a recall scroll and a rune to my house and then used a rune library to get to near where my new toon was logged, dropped the backpack on the ground, recalled my "real" toon back home, logged the newb back in and hoped that my backpack would still be there. Is this really the "INTENDED" way people need to get out of New Haven?
UO Changed how they created new chars at least 4 or 5 years ago forcing everyone through Haven (without all the undead) and with a moongate... I can't believe the new char creation screens still make you believe you have choices to make that you don't and now you don't have any in game way to get out of there...

No way to get out of Haven??? I chose Britain but started in haven?? There's no moongate where there used to be and I haven't played in 3 years... haven't started a new char in 3 years I mean. How do I get out of here?

Greetings, I have checked on you in-game and have determined that you can in fact move freely. I recommend seeking help from other players or searching player vendors for solutions to your situation. I'm afraid that we are not able to provide directions to players lost in dungeons or on the world map. You will have to find your own way out as it is not appropriate for me to interfere with your game play. Please make sure to use the stuck command ONLY when physically unable to move in the game. This feature is not a quick ride to town and will only serve to free up your character from a place it should not be. Take care.
