[Discussion] What new graphics would you like to see for EM items?

it got me thinking after reading some comments in the sales thread for the new Atlantic drop about which graphics were new this season.

I do agree with some of those comments that most the current EM items are getting a bit stale as for graphics. We need something new. The last major "update" was when sounds / effects were cool, now every item has a sound or effect so its lost that freshness. Also the metallic / neon colors / large items were new and fresh when we started seeing them maybe 5 years ago, but they also are nothing special now.

Id be interested to see other players suggestions for new graphics for EM drops. Perhaps the EMs or @Mesanna will see this thread and we might even get some of your suggestions.

My suggestion would be EM mounts. just like regular ethereal mounts but with a special name and color.
it would give alot of options and variety for some new freshness in ovarall drops and collectability. (and lets face it, i cant think of the last time i was excited about an ethy mount. vet reward ones are just common and boring, but we all need mounts so i think special mounts would be an excellent, and easy to implement choice)

Heres the list i came up with of totally new graphics for season 14 EM items that we've gotten so far. So the EMs are trying, but it would be nice to see more variety and more new graphics. (im sure i left some out, i just looked over things quickly)

Ive highlighted ones that are not available in any other previous event item, and are also do not have that graphic available in any spawning or gift item. basically, as of right now, a unique graphic.

Golden Shimmering Sun-Dried Roses Of A Lost Love - never seen before as an EM item
Living Rose-Gold Coral From The Waters Of Nujel'm - totally new graphic - not available to players - never seen before in em item
Broken Glass Swords Fused With Uthar's Necromancy - totally new graphic - not available to players - never seen before S14
A Set Of Swords Once Belonging To The Traversis Leader Areum Taris - totally new graphic - not available to players - never seen before S14
A Golden Chip Used In The Orc Casino - never seen before as an EM item
Azure Dragon Replica - totally new graphic - not available to players - never seen before in any item
The Roasting Pig King - only available as gift item - not available to players - never seen in any EM item
Imprisoned Spirits Waiting To Claim An Unsuspecting Body - sign version not available to players in any form - totally new graphic for an EM item *note - i realize this was a mistake and was never meant to be in this form. so a very cool mistake in regards to rares collecting.
A Noxious Flame Once Used In The Eradication Of A Once Great Kingdom - never seen before in any EM item
A Passionate Rosebush Augmented With True Beauty: "Omnia Vincit Amor Et Nos Cedamus Amori" - not available to players - never seen before S14

other graphics, like waves, dolphins, and shackles are not available to players in anything but other EM items. several have been used this season.

Useable items that are not a repeat graphic will always be my favorite. I couldnt care less for an em rare that is just regular graphic with a fancy color and new title.

Mounts would be amazing, I might actually own and em event item if they gave those out.

I like the idea of say a crimson but with one extra useful mod such as the VvV items do, not the same mod as the VvV one of course but I feel that an extra little mod wont hurt the games balance. mostly I would like to see whole new graphics introduced into the game. designed just for the event. which would be very time consuming for every shard but one or two different shards a month shouldn't be to hard

Most of the time the props for the Em's story arc are awesome well the drop itself is just average. There are just so many items out there now , if there gonna recycle at least put a cool color to it. I will use a example of The Void Clockwork Power Core, great name but all it is is a dragon Easter egg with a color you can dye from a dye tub. If they had made it void or something it would have been pretty cool, or if they made it animated like Yamato Nadeshiko, something you do not have to click for the effect.

I also think to introduce unique items back into the game, every shard should be able once a year to have a event where instead of a item dropped in pack you get a book dropped in pack with a number on it. After event Em can teleport you to the place where the unique items are. If you have book #1 you have first pick of the items. Book 2 second choice ect ect. I also think the event should not be announced that it is the unique item event. Let it be a surprise to everyone. And if they could have random sub bosses thru the event drop the books would be awesome too. If there are ten mobs up and everyone are fighting different mobs it will spread the books out to more people instead of mainly the multibox clan. And maybe have #1 book drop on the main boss or something. I dont know I just think if each shard were allowed to run something like this it would add some excitement back into the rare community.

Anyway I was thinking a cool item would be a spellbook that revolved like a wind spirit when locked down.

I love it when they introduced unused graphics, Ilshenar is my favourite land because so much time was spent on that land to make it look awesome. One thing myself and i know others have always wanted is those small candles, so that would be nice as a drop. As you can see next to the ankh in this pic

The Drachenfels coffin set worries me for any future "Multi-Piece" item set. How disappointing it was to find out at the end that the EM used the wrong graphic for the head peice

I understand why the rehue/reuse graphics. The game has been around for a long time and creating new graphics for holidays and special events such as releases and em events...well it's very time consuming. The mounts is actually a very good idea. For me, I like items to be one of a kind. I always go after the more "rare" colors or names.

I think it'd be nice if they found a way to create a new gift box with an actual name tag that had our names from it and have it say from Mesanna or our shard's EM. I also like shard specific items.
They could also revamp baldrics, give them stats/special graphic. They could do this with cloaks and t-shirts too. Special text is nice but an actual graphic would be amazing.

How about the take a monster that isn't tamable and turn it into a statue...but wait also make it a statue that we can summon..let's not stop there...make it cast a buff when we say a keyword! Rename, rehue it, make it limited edition. Or it could be just something that follows us around and randomly says Mesanna's favorite sayings!

I also think it'd be cool idea if the item we got was actually something for the entire shard...like a shard specific structure that we helped create with an unique graphic item that all contributing players got. Add amazing storyline and we got a winner. The item could be really easy too! It could be a brick that acts as a portal to the structure's location. Now that would be an amazing place to hold future em events.

Anyway, just brainstorming. I enjoy UO. I enjoy the players and the creativity. I admire the hard work the staff puts into making players happy.

I asked EM Bennu about making some last year and was told that for some reason the developers won't let the EM's use that graphic. It's such a perfect graphic for an EM event item though. I hope the developers reconsider and allow the EM's to use that graphic one day.

That cloud with lightning in your pictures, has been used allready. It is a unique from the Catskills mesanna world tour, called the Vortex of Fate

An abyssal or void/blackrock colored bloody pentagram would be cool. Also I know a couple people would hate it but some of the 20,000 leagues under the sea event deco would be awesome!
