What gear should I use!

I haven't played UO since all of the ML/SE stuff has been added. Im looking to build a parry mage but I dont even know where to start as far as gear goes. Please recommend some key pieces of gear I would want to get.

EDIT: Just bought an arcane, looking for suggestion on what helm/tunic/wep I should use
