Weapon/Spell Book

I have started a mage with swords. How does that effect the spell book? As a mage I can use all the spells but do I get any of the extra mods...LRC, SDI, Eval, etc? Is the Scrapper the same as an ordinary spell book, losing all its extras?

Yup,

You only get spellbook buffs (any type), if you are holding the book.

If you hold a weapon, you get any buffs/debuffs held by the weapon.
