[General] Ways to increase your quality

Ok, so you maxed out your skill in your trade, but now how else can you get an edge over competitors to get the best out of your effort?

I havent played this game in quite a few years so I dont know what could be out there to help increase chances to craft items plus chances to get more magical properties with higher intensities.

For example, does luck play a role? Do you wear a 700 luck suit when crafting?

What about the talismans, that have like bonus % to crafting and crafting exceptional. Is that just for success or does that play a role in magical power too?

Any other things? character race? trammel vs fel? special bought tools? artifacts? special forges/workbenches? anything?

Depending on how long ago you played, some things have changed.

1. Arms lore adds a +1% exceptional DI (weapons) / +1 to exceptional random resists (armor) for every 20 points, up to +5%/+5 resists at GM (higher on Siege).

2. Smith/Tailor Runics no longer have a top-end cap (even spined runics can create a 100% intensity property), and all had their lower bound raised (a Valorite hammer now is 5 properties at 85%-100% intensity!). Plus, elemental damage on weapons is now a random freebie - it doesn't take a runic property slot, so an elemental damage weapon made with a shadow iron hammer would have the elemental damage, Damage increase from being exceptional, and two other random properties, for a total of 3 properties)

3. Luck has no effect.

4. Talismans have no effect on runic properties - just the chance to craft successfully (regular bonus) or exceptionally craft (exceptional bonus). Normal success bonuses do NOT raise the chance for exceptional crafting, either. Use of a decent talisman and a +10 or +15 hammer held in hand will allow a smith to craft all smith items in the game at 100% Exceptional chance.

5. The only skill affected by race and/or location is Imbuing, as Gargoyles have a racial bonus, and there are two public access soulforges that give a further bonus in the Royal city to all races (the best one requires 10,000 gargoyle queen loyalty to use to craft, but anyone can unravel there with the bonus). Gargoyles are supposed to have a slight bonus to enhance, but there's no way to test it (since enhancement success chance is a hidden number), and it might have been a dev mis-speaking about the imbue success chances (as people still routinely accidentally refer to Imbuing as enhancing or vice versa, 2 years into Stygian Abyss)

6. There's a special Carpenter table/bench that gives a bonus, that costs real money from EA. Similarly, they also sell a limited use tool that gives 100% success chance to a small number of enhances (especially useful for items with little or no chance of success otherwise - an "of Fortune" item from Shame with 150 luck is 100% fail/break chance without the tool)

Basara, what do you mean by "unravel there with the bonus"? Does "unraveling" at the Queen's Soul Forge give better results?

Confused....

According to descriptions given a couple years ago, yes. You can get relic fragments with slightly less quality stuff if you use the Queen's forge. The public forge out front is also slightly better than using a home forge, but not as good as using the queen's forge.
