Void Essence/Void Orb

I've been hunting the void creatures looking for void essence and all I get are void orbs.

Is there a way to turn the orbs into essence?

If not is the essence just really really rare?

if you do farmer nash's quest you can get a bellum to pop out of the weeds and you can get an orb or an essence and sometimes both.not everytime you do the quest you will et a bellum but do it 2-3 times and you should get one to spawn.
