Using a Mage weapon.

I was just wondering what/how people use a mage weapon, when running a necro mage template.

I have the basic necro/mage template 120 - Mage, Med, Eval, Resists, Necro and SS.

I have been trying a staff or pyros out to do a little more damage when corpse skin is cast. However without tactics, the damage dealt, is well, laughable. So I stoned SS and put on 115 Tactics to see how that would work, and wow what a difference. I was hitting hard. Yet, as always in UO a plus came with a negative and my necro was so poor. Unbeliveable how poor it was! Lol! I also found with a minimum amount of Dex, I was hitting very slowly.

So I wondered how others got around this....

Using a mage weapon in this case is for defensive purposes, not for melee damage.

Although, if you have a fast mage weapon with a spell effect (harm, lightning, fireball, magic arrow), it could be very useful indeed. Just not against the monsters.
