UO Townhall Austin Texas "IKE"

I'm on my way to Austin Texas Thursday morning with the Whispering Rose Radio crew coming in Friday. We put our travel packages together months ago. So even if "IKE" hits we will be in Austin and will be at the Dave & Buster's 3pm local time this Saturday September 13th. Even if Jeremy cancels the UO Town Hall meeting we will have a "UO Town Hall Meet Up hates :gun: Ike party"

I will keep you you all posted here on where we are at.

Yeah, it looks like the Town Hall has been cancelled. Please stay safe on the road. We plan on riding it out unless Ike hits at a category 4 or higher.

Stay out of low lying area's and everyone will be fine. If you have never experienced heavy rains in South Texas most everything around is rock so the water has nowhere to go so you get some intense flood waters fast.
Just stay inside and enjoy the atmosphere. Plus UT is in session so the nite life can be quite interesting to say the least

BTW, Sandman has cancelled the above intent, in the other thread - his WRR cohorts declared him nuts to even THINK about going to Austin, and he cancelled his plans too. He just needs to get in here and announce it himself.

BTW, Sandman has cancelled the above intent, in the other thread - his WRR cohorts declared him nuts to even THINK about going to Austin, and he cancelled his plans too. He just needs to get in here and announce it himself.

Yes after several hours last night of talking with staff and watching the Weather Channel Whispering Rose Radio has decided to stay out of Texas this weekend. With :gun: "Ike" coming to town there will be enough for all in the area to handle and we don't need to be adding to the problem. (sorry about not posting it on this tread)

I'm hoping all will be safe in Texas or where ever :gun: "Ike" may head.

There was a few of us from Dallas heading down but Ike put a stop to that. Be safe out there people.

Hotels and Salvation Army camps, both well known UO'ers temporary residences, will be full of people coming in from Houston and Galveston. That area has as many people as all of Louisiana. Ike won't hurt us in Austin because we will be on the fringe of the storm, but our hotels and roads will be full.

I live just outside of Houston and, like many others, plan on hunkering down and riding it out. More worried about losing power than anything else. Wish I could meet up with my WRR friends but it will have to wait... til then.

I may be in Austin unintentionally tomorrow, possiably by force, as im in teh next area that will be giveing teh manditory removals, and by law I cannot ride it out with minor children so ya i may be forciably in Austin on my laptop looking for places to be beside the shelters, I prefer not a shelter, but i am sure hotels/motels are booked up for the surrounding 200 miles
