@Kyronix This seems an artificial limitation; is there some reason we can use these doors in keeps and castles and such, but not in an 18x18?

Yes. If you place a house only door on the edge of the house and open it, it opens out into the world and is no longer on a valid foundation, which means that it is no longer locked down. This issue doesn't occur in pre-fab housing because there are walls on all sides. Since you can place doors through the house customization many anyway, we removed house only doors from being able to be placed in customized housing.
