(Question) Trapped Chest not working

Ok, so I've never used a trapped chest, but I'm trying out some templates on TC and would like to not use resist. I have another char that trapped and then locked the chest, dropped it on the ground and my other char has it. When I double click it all I get is 'it appears to be locked.' No trap goes off.

I recall they have to be facing a certain way, so I changed facings, no go. Thought maybe I'm in Tram? Move to Fel, no go...

What am I missing?

I could be mistaken but I thought it had to be a small wooden crate facing in the off direction.

Yea, I have both an orange chest and small crate. Neither are firing... I thought exactly the same as you, but moved to the orange chest when the crate wasn't doing anything.
