Throwing...what am I doing wrong?

I started a char with throwing. I'm, at 43 now and can't seem to hit anything. I had her sit by a corpser for 15 mins...not a single hit. Is there a trick to this?

Your first mistake was choosing to go with Throwing to begin with. Second probably has to do with you not standing in the "sweet spot" and getting too much of an HCI penalty.

You can reduce the acc penalty by building shield skill. But if you want a shield, why bother with ranged weapon?

Raising parry slightly reduces the drastic penalty of using a shield.

and the penalty with 120 parry outweighs the benefits of even the best shield.
