Star Chart (Hag's Quest)

Having lost sacrifice virtue points due to not playing for a while, I'm working the Hag's Quest again.

One problem I am constantly encountering is when she requests the Star Chart and it is 8 a.m. While time does move faster in Sosaria than in RL, it is still an unbearable amount of time waiting for 5 pm.

Since they have changed it where all times are the same no matter where you are (no time zones), does anyone know of an alternative? I have actually found it quicker to cancel the quest and do it again to avoid the Star Chart.

I just start all over again if it is too early in the morning. It could take about 90 RL minutes before it gets to 5pm, and I can do the quest at least 10 times in that time.

A friend of mine says that there probably used to be a way around it, I think it involved using a sextant or something to do with the telescope in Moonglow. But he is not sure. It should be since in RL you can see stars in daytime with a telescope.

Thanks, and welcome back.

You are right about the 90 minutes. It is a long time to be waiting if you are on a chain.

What I usually do is use my combat-capable characters for the hag quest, and if I run into the star chart during the daytime (I thought it was a 12/1 cycle, not 8/1, for UO Days, which would be a 60 minute wait at most), I just go do escorts for compassion or farm insane dryads for the melisande key, while I wait.

I usually pay attention to the game time, and if I can't get a new Hag quest finished before dawn, I won't even start it - then, since I don't have a classic quest, I go do Elwood's or the Solen Matriarch's, until it's after 4 pm in-game, and I then go back to the Hag (that way, it should be closing on 5 pm by the time the 3rd item hits, in case it's the star chart).

Remember that the hag has a cool-down timer as well, and you often can't restart immediately if you finish the quest too quickly, or abandon it. You might end up hitting the star chart 4 or more times in a row, and get no quests finished during the day (which happened to me at least once - some wiseguy led off all the chickens in North Jhelom, and they didn't respawn, so it took forever to do the chicken when it came up, repeatedly)

I think I will adapt this policy so that I won't get caught up in the chart and have to start all over. :thumbup1:

I actually paid the money to buy a holiday timepiece to put in my bag of hag quest items/runes, just to make sure I always have the time (and will only lose it if the bless/insure bug hits)

The Holiday Timepiece is a blessing. I just replaced that big clock I've been dragging around all this time. :)

Too bad you can't wear it on your left wrist (like in RL) since a bracelet goes on the right. I'm not sure if it can be imbued, but even if it can it will still not be able to replace the bracelet of binding I wear. .:(

Edit: Okay, so you can't imbue blessed items. How did I forget that?
