Skinning of animal for leather

Which type of knife or cleaver is used to skin corpse directly into leather?
I thought it was the skinning knife but it didn't work.

or has there been a change after 1 of the publish?

As I heard, you need to have the skinning knife equipped to work that way. Besides that theres now the Butcher's War Cleaver. Only that it only works until it guesses your backpack could be full, why it usually stops working at around 330 stones weight.

i found out that the butcher's war cleaver is a bovine slayer.
what's a bovine slayer?

it does additional 100% damage to all kind of cows (including Minotaurs).
