"Did you have this in mind when you started?" Thomas leaned back against the Tailor shop, blade of grass sticking out of the corner of his mouth.
Trae grinned. No, She hadn't thought that far ahead but wasn't about to give that detail up to her counterpart. "Out of the frying pan, into the fire."
"Interesting analogy for someone who's never cooked a day in her life."
"Knowing the flames is enough," she said casually. Thomas snorted. They both knew that kind of heat well. How it licked and nipped at your insides, setting blaze to the tips of your nerves and lighting up your skin. Paytience, both theirs and this one, knew it too.
"Word's out. It's being requested."
"Why don't we point them in the right direction then?" Laughter edged with purpose and wrapped in a belying cocoon of malevolence dripped from her lips like fruit on a fickle vine.Turning, she sauntered towards the door, her hips swaying to some unknown melody in her mind.
"And your time frame on introducing theirs and ours?"
There was no pause, no misstep as she answered him. "When she realizes there is never an out from the Cadre'."
